*2 Years Later*
*Kayleigh's Point Of VIew*
"Christian!" I giggle, trying to wiggle out from under him. "Stop!"
"Never!" He laughs, attacking my sides.
Christian and I were reunited by Ryan last year, after I healed from the incident. We don't speak of it, because I told everyone that I just want to forget those two years of my life. Ever since the night that he showed up at my house to apologize, I've been a completely different person. I apologized to everyone I've ever put down, I started making new friends in school, and now I've given Christian a chance after apologizing. We've been dating for the past year and a half, and will be attending college together at Notre Dame University in the fall. As for Ryan, he is coming with us, along with his new girlfriend, Tasha. Chaz and Nicole are headed off to Atlanta State, and Amber is going with them.
If you're wondering, Leah was killed by Alex the night I escaped. The police found her sprawled out on the kitchen floor, laying in a pool of blood. She had been stabbed twice in the chest. Alex is still behind bars, along with his men. The man who tried to save me the night of the attack passed away two weeks after I was released from the hospital. Ryan and I attended his funeral to pay our respects. Jared, my biological father, died at the hotel after a gas bomb was set off. He suffocated to death in less than five minutes. Unfortunately, my grandfather died of a heart attack, but my grandmother is alive and well. She told me of my childhood.
"Jared was only seventeen years old when he met Maria Sanchez and got her pregnant. They planned to stay together and raise the baby after getting married. Jared was in a gang at the time, and he tried to hide Maria and his new born daughter, Kayleigh Leann Bond. It worked until Kayleigh was three years old, until the gang found Jared out with his wife and child. They killed Maria and badly injured Jared and his daughter until Jared got them both to a hospital where he told them to give his daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Cruz. The hospital treated the baby for a deep gash on her nose and stomach, and also several broken bones. They then handed the baby to the desired guardians, along with a note left by Jared, explaining what was happening with the situation."
I ended up learning where my scars came from, and why my parents weren't who I thought they were. I now know why they never loved me, because it would be extremely difficult to love a child that isn't your own.
"Kayleigh!" Christian yells from bathroom doorway. He's just emerged from the shower with a towel wrapped loosely around his waist. "Get ready, okay? I'm taking you out for dinner tonight!"
