Crying in the corner

(In honor of regular show weekend I've started working on chapter 3)

Regular POV

Mordecai sat there as Benson frowned. His face grew hot with embarrassment. "I'm sorry Mordecai, but I don't like you that way." Benson felt as if he had ripped Mordecai's heart out. "No,No it's ok. I understand completely." Mordecai stood up suddenly, "Um I'll be leaving now, excuse me!" He ran out of Benson's office and into his room.

"Mordecai wait-!" Benson called out, he sat back in his chair,sighing In exasperation. Mordecai jumped onto his bed as tears streamed down his cheeks. "Why?! Why?! Why?!" He asked himself angrily. "Why does this always happen?" He whispered.

Outside Rigby noticed Mordecai wasnt in the window anymore. After he put the hose away he scampered off to their room to see if Mordecai was done talking to Benson. Before he opened the door he heard the quiet sobs of his best friend.

"What the- Benson!" He whispered angrily, he ran into Benson's office. "What did you do to him?!" He asked, slamming his fists onto Benson's desk, startling the gumball machine. "W-What? What are you talking abou-"

"Mordecai! You made him cry! Mordecai never cries! Not even at our parents funeral!" Rigby cried. "Listen Rigby! I never meant to make him cry! I can't help it if I find our relationship professional!" Benson said in defense.

"Whats wrong with him then?! What's not to like about him? He's smart, funny, loyal, kind, and the best person ive ever met!" He scowled. "You should feel honored to have him like you!" Rigby continued. "And now he's going to be deppressed! All because another jerk broke his heart!" He fumed.

Benson blushed. "Look, I know Mordecai is a great person but-" "And you! I don't know why he'd pick you of all people to fall in love with! Your mean, loud, and have a short temper! But Mordecai is so nice, that he some how found the good in you!" Rigby said, cutting him off.

Benson just sat there blushing. "Ugh, I'm going to go comfort Mordecai, at least give him a few days to be sad." Rigby spat, walking away. Benson's heart thumped slightly. No one had ever liked him before, except Audrey, the woman across the hall. Benson didn't really like anyone else either, Audrey was just a small flame that quickly blew out.

'I dont really have time for romance any way' he thought, the gumball machine stood up and sighed. The least he could do was check on Mordecai, he walked towards the blue jays room. As he got closer to the room he heard whispers.

"... It's ok mordecai....." ".....know but...."

He slid by the door that was slightly opened. " Bensen isn't a good love choice anyway Mordecai, he'd probably be abusive," Rigby suggested, rubbing Mordecai's back comfortingly. Benson blushed, was he really that loud and angry?

Bensen scurried back to his office, He shouldn't be eaves dropping. Although he decided he would change his attitude, he shouldn't be a rageholic. He also felt he should spend more time with mordecai, just to comfort him.

Hours past until the park closed and the gumball machine said good night to Pops and went home. "Hey Benson." Audrey greeted, seeing Benson enter his apartment. "Hi," He said quietly, going inside his apartment.

Audrey looked down sadly, she knew Benson was no longer interested with her but she felt it was wrong to not say hi once and awhile. Benson plopped down in his recliner, he dealt with enough emotion today, he went to bed after putting some things away.

-THE NEXT DAY <3-

Mordecai's POV

This morning went by bleak and sad, I ate reluctantly because Rigby insisted I at least eat toast.Afterwards I went back to bed and curled under a blanket. Until Benson came into my room.

"Hey Mordecai, are you feeling well today?" He asked nervously. "Um, yeah I guess." I looked down at my cover, averting his eyes. "Good, let's go on a date."
