A long time ago there was a Queen.
Ding.
He was the Queen of Spades.
Ding.
He adored, cherished, and loved his kingdom. He would give his life for his kingdom.
Ding...
Although the kingdom, however, did not feel the same.
This Queen has a scowl that could kill a clown's, happy mood. He was a bit arrogant, and mean. But he did everything for his subjects. He was kind and understanding, but his sarcastic tone would show otherwise. The kingdom watched their Queen as he showered them with gifts and love, only for them to turn their backs and ignore him. The Queen soon grew cold and distant and ran the kingdom under locked doors. The King and Jack had died over old age and drinking to much liquor. Turning the tables on the kingdom, the Queen began ignoring their needs. Which didn't help his reputation at all to say the least. Spades soon lost its bright color. Only to have dull grey's, blues, greens, violets, and whites. The people whose personalities and magic would light up the streets were now thin, starved, and tired. But not once did someone ask the Queen for help. Everyone to prideful to do so. He would sit in his lonely castle waiting... waiting for someone to just ask him for help. Then one day, demons attacked Spades. Causing the people to panic and run. They couldn't fight since they traded all their weaponry and armory for food. What they didn't know is without the magic in the air, the barrier against the Underworld and Earth are severed. That is why Spades is the Kingdom of Magic. They gathered at the foot of the castle, getting on their hands and knees. Begging, crying, calling and so on. Asking for their Queens help. The Queen heard their cries and called out to them asking and telling.
"Why should I help you? You people never came to my gala's, balls, and other sorts of events. You people taunt and tease me in the streets. Leaving me in this cold palace for months. You people for 8 years haven't until now, asked me for help. Now you come to me to protect you?" He lifted his eyebrows. The people with dull, but frightened eyes. Looked up one final time and simply said...
"We were wrong." After those words, the Queen climbed on the porch fence. And jumped off; startled the people began to be frantic and form a cushion for the Queen. It had worked, and the Queen ever so gently was let down.
"People Of Spades!" Their Queen shouted.
"Promise me this, you will forever remember me, and what I did for this kingdom." He soon jumped up, but instead of going maybe 2 to 3 feet in the air. He went at least 50. Floating above where he stood only seconds ago, and closing his eyes while repeating chants, and verses. The Queen soon open his eyes only to show, that they were glowing, white, balls of light. Markings wrapped themselves around their Queens body, making sharp square like lines. The lines glowed a gold fading into blue. As the Queen finally shouted
"Huic terram erit ligatum et praesidium!" A giant wave of power hit the demons that were closer to the people than they initially thought. Killing all of them at the same time. The barrier was sealed tightly, and soon some type of circle like wall wrapped itself around the kingdom. The Wall was invisible, but it was there. The Queen held a cube that spun and turned in his hand. It was blue, violet, white, gold, and sliver. Lines of aqua color went around it without touching it, or moving. The Queen lifted his hand as the other reached for the ground. While looking up tears from his glowing white eyes escaped. The last words the kingdom heard from their Queen was...
"I shall protect my people."
The tips of the Queens' fingers soon turned into stone as it slowly reached towards his feet. The cube still being in Queens''''''' hand floating over it. Of course,, by being stone the Queen fell but was caught by local blacksmiths. The kingdom for the first time wept for their Queen. Over time the clocks chose new kings and queens. Soon the Queen was placed on top of a pillar made of quartz and marble. And the Queen's rock solid body became the Centerpiece of the capital of Spades, town square. Wrapped around with shops, cafes, bars, homes, and trees. The Square was quite full, every hour of the day. They say that the Queens Statue is what keeps this country protected. Some call it a myth, or a tale, but then what is that strange cube that floats in his hand. Anyway, needless to say, that is the story of the Spades Queen Arthur.
"But it's only a story right?" A little boy in his pajamas said.
"Oh Prince, of course, it's a story, people can't turn into stone and magic doesn't exist." A maid said bluntly. The little boy's smiled faltered.
"What if... what if it is real?"
"If it is, that means monsters are real. And monsters hide under your bed."
"WHAT?!"
"Don't worry since there isn't any monsters under your bed, the tale isn't true."
"Okay." The prince sighed.
The maid grabbed the blanket and covered his whole body including the face.
"Goodnight little Prince." the maid moved over to the bookshelf and laid the picture book on top. Her brown shoes clicked against the marble floor, as she walked out of sight. After she left, the little prince peaked over his blankets his ahoge popping up. The clicks of the shoes slowly got further and further, as the Prince slowly lifted up as the silk sheets drifted from his legs and arms. Wincing at the cold floor he quickly but quietly moved over to the bookshelf. Scrunching up his face and tilting his head, he thought of a plan.
Grabbing a stool that was next to his dresser, he set it in front of the shelf and planted his feet there. Luckily the maid was new, and she didn't put the book all the way in the back. The young prince jumped up grabbed the tip of the book and held onto it. Quickly after grabbing it he jumped on the bed and opened it up. He smiled as he this particular image showed Queen Arthur. His red hair was all messy and dissevered. Like it hadn't been brushed, and his eyebrows practically coming off the page. His freckles that went from cheek to cheek. The small smile that, by the story, seemed so rare. What was most capturing in Alfred's eyes, were Arthur's. The two blue orbs look like sapphires and lapis that blend in together. The were gorgeous, then again this is only a painted picture and drawing of Queen Arthur.
"Goodnight, my Queen." The young prince said as he closed the book and set it next to him. He lifted sheets and blanket over himself and fell asleep, with a small smile.
