When Hail burst out laughing I was so startled. I jumped up and almost smacked my head off a rock as I fell back to the ground but Maple jumped into action grabbing and steadying me. Kai took this as an opportunity and bopped her on the head. I leaned over and whispered “I’ll put you on my shoulders and chase him because I'm better at running in the sand” She agreed and hopped on my shoulders. It wasn't hard at all to catch him. I was just shocked that she was so trusting. Like how. After what's happened to me over the past few years I barely trust these people but they haven't done anything yet sooooo. “-ey. hey MICHA”I jumped scared then realized I had zoned out. Again. I heard a small oof from behind me. I turned around and saw a mop of blue and brown hair filled with sand. Once I completely turned I could tell it was Maple she had fallen off my shoulders when I jumped. She looked so tiny you could hold her like a kitten so that's what I did. I grabbed the back of her blue hoodie and just picked up and set her down. I looked over to Kai to see him and Leo whispering Leo's chestnut eyes full of curiosity. Kais blue eyes filled with mischief. I looked over to Maple to see Maple studying me. Her honey eyes scanning me over. Wait. Dammit Kate I gotta get Kate. “What time is it?” I questioned. “It's….um 4:50. Why?” “Well I wasn't the only one that didn't want the other life so did my friends and everyday we sneak away and meet here at 5. If you guys don'tmindofcoursecouldtheymaybe join… us.” I looked around and watched as people made their decision after deciphering what I had said. Quickly they had made up their mind they all nodded. “Yes.” Everyone said at once. Hail came up to me and placed a hand on my shoulder saying “What's one more person to the group.”
