Chapter 14: It

Ema p.o.v.
“I know a good abandoned shelter we can use for now” Everyone looked to me. Maple, Hail and Kai and looked at eachother. They all nodded at once. “Yerp good idea” All of them said at once. I tried and tried but nope I burst out laughing. Turns out I wasn't the only one my laugh started up everyone else was laughing. Maple and Kai grabbed each others shoulders to steady themselves. Grace had to grab a tree and her brother to steady them both. Everyone else was ok. I was very scared as I was suddenly on the ground. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Kate. She booped me hopped up and ran. “Well that was something but we really should get to that shelter you were talking about.” Just as Kai said that I saw something glowing in the sand. I rolled over to it and grabbed. For now I just shoved it into my bag to be examined with Kate later. I got up with the help of Maple when I noticed she had no shoes. “Um Maple where are your shoes?” I asked worried as they might be needed. She turned and walked to the water. She looked around a little with the help of Leo and Hail. “Oh I found them.” she proceeded to point into the water then dive in after taking off her sweater. “MAPLE YOU HAVE TO STOP DOING THIS” Hail yelled. “Wait she does this often?” I questioned. “Yup” Kai said popping the ‘p’. I saw her at her shoes when suddenly where she was began to glow a bright blue the same colour as the water. Maple became completely invisible in the light. Leo went right in to get her. When he got near the light it died down. Maple was standing there completely normally with her shoes. “Well that was weird” She said once she got back to land with Leo in her arms. Hail handed everyone an apple saying”That happened, so food” I was horrified as Maples jaw unhinged like a snake to swallow the entire apple. She then proceeded to spit out the core but the scariest part was the fangs. Long fangs that barely fit her mouth. Everyone jumped back except Leo. “Wh-why are you all scared” Hail went up to her and I blurted out “Stay away from it” I covered my mouth and instantly guilt and regret filled me. “IT really i'm only an it now” Maple growled at me “I'msososososorry it just came out i'm really sorry I was just scared” She just plopped next to a suitcase and pulled out a mirror. She unhinged her jaw again and said “ Well apology accepted as this is pretty scary also my eyes” “It was horrifying your jaw unhinged like a snakes” Hail said before her and Maple started laughing. Maple opened her eyes ready for the terror no one did anything. Her eyes were yellowy-green with her pupils as tiny slits. I dove behind Kate as there was a bright flash and her eyes were honey again. She tried to unhinge her jaw but couldn't. She was normal, well as normal as she could get.
