Chapter 12: The Final Fight (2)

Tony and Bucky were fighting in the air as Steve was stuck in something Tony fired at him. Tony was about to fire a missile at Bucky, but Bucky held his arm and changed the direction of the missile. The missile hit a wall in Ruby's direction. She screamed and scrambled out of the way then ran towards Steve. Steve got up and looked at Bucky then Ruby.

"Both of you get out of here!!!" Steve yelled at them then shoved Ruby at Bucky.

Bucky took her arm and lifted it on his shoulder and ran. He punched the lift button and started to climb up. He held her with his flesh arm and used his metal arm to climb. Ruby look down as they were climbing and saw Tony speeding up to them. She pointed her hand in his direction and tried as much as she can to hold him. Blood started to leak out of her nose and her vision began to blur again. But as usual after a few seconds, she couldn't hold it and raised her powers off of him.

As Bucky and Ruby were climbing Tony came and kicked them both sending them to one of the metal plates. Then Ruby was pulled from beside Bucky with a metal hand. Her head now had a bunch of scratches and her legs had batches of blood. Tony fired a blast with his right hand while Ruby was hanging by his left. But before the blast reached Bucky, Steve came and raised his shield. The blast hit Tony and caused him to let go of Ruby. She screamed as she fell but luckily for her she had powers. With her remanding strength she pushed her hands to the ground and fell slower than before. She lied on her back and looked up. She saw Bucky and Steve fight off Tony.

Her breathing was hard and loud. She was terrified and exhausted at the same. She had no idea what happened and she just wanted to get the bad guy and go home. Or what she thought home was. Suddenly she heard a crash then saw Steve and Tony falling. She quickly moved out of the way as they came crashing down. Tony got up and faced Steve as Ruby watched from the ground. She had a hand on her stomach as she lend on the wall.

"This isn't gonna change what happened" She read Steve's lips.

"I don't care" Tony said as Ruby started to get up slowly. "He killed my mom"

Before he could charge at Steve, Ruby pushed Steve and took his place. Ropes appeared out of thin air and wrapped themselves around Tony.

"STOP!" She roared and held Tony in the ropes. Tony was a few inches in front of her, trying to wiggle out of the ropes.

"RUBY!! Let go of me!" Tony yelled once he took off his mask.

"D-Dad, please" She sobbed as tears fell from her eyes. "S-Stop t-this. We got t-the bad guy. Let's j-just go home."

Tony stood silence for a few seconds and Ruby slowly removed the ropes from him, but suddenly he charged at Steve who was behind her. Tony and Steve started to fight one another without mercy. Ruby tried to join the fight but Tony kicked her to a wall. She hit the wall hard and her vision clouded.

Bucky got up and took Cap's shield. First he went and checked on Ruby. She looked up with misty vision, but Bucky then quickly joined the fight when he saw that Steve needed help. Bucky and Steve both fought Tony but eventually Tony blasted Steve. Bucky then came in and started to fight him more violently.

Ruby got up slowly and held her stomach. As she began to walk she saw a huge blast coming from Tony. She looked up and saw Bucky with widen eyes. Her eyes traveled to his arm and that's when tears started to build up in her eyes again. Another blast came and knocked Bucky off. Ruby quickly scrambled to his side and carefully touched what remanded of his metal arm. She looked into his eyes and saw despair. Suddenly a wave of guilt washed over her. Tears started to stream down her face as she dug her face into his chest.

"No no no no" Ruby mumbled as she sobbed into his shirt. "I'm s-s-so sorry. I'm s-sorry"

Bucky looked up at her and frowned as blood slid down his face.

"It's not your fault." He said weakly. "Nothing is your fault, 3"

As Ruby sobbed into Bucky's chest, Tony and Steve fought. She raised her head up slowly and realized something. Her mask had turned back to glasses and some of the glass was poking into her skin. She quickly and carefully took it off and then slowly with trembling hand she took the small piece of glass from her face. When she was done, blood was all over her face. She looked up and saw Steve in front of her on his knees.

"He's my friend" Steve said weakly to Tony.

"So was I" Tony said then punched and kicked Steve mercilessly.

Then he threw Steve to a wall and said in his robotic voice. "Stay down. Final warning"

Steve stood up and raised his hand. "I could do this all day."

Tony raised his hand and was about to blast Steve when Bucky held his foot. He turned and kicked Bucky in the face then Steve came and picked him up then threw him at the wall. Steve started punching Tony brutally when Ruby got up.

"NO!" She shouted as she held Steve's hands in her force. "Don't. He's my dad"

Tony, thinking that Ruby was finally with him, raised his arm about to punch Steve, but a force held his arm too.

"I'm not doing this for you" Ruby said to Tony sharply.

She let go of Steve's arms and focused all her powers on Tony. Steve slowly got up from Tony and went to Bucky. He held Bucky in one arm and his shield in the other. Tony tried to get up and fight again, but this time Ruby held on tighter.

When Steve and Bucky were about to leave Tony spoke. "That shield doesn't belong to you. You don't deserve it. My father made that shield!"

Steve stopped for a moment then dropped the shield to the ground. As he started to walk away again Bucky stopped. Bucky turned to Ruby and said. "I'll miss you..."

Ruby looked at him with tears in her eyes.

"I'll miss you too, Winter" She said.

When Steve and Bucky finally left, Ruby released Tony from her force and laid on top of him. She looked at the ceiling as she felt his breathing under her. She closed her eyes then opened them again just to make sure that everything was real. A few days ago she had her own booth with a simple life, now she just freed a wanted man. She felt movement from under her so she slowly got up and lend on the wall. Tony growled a bit and sat up. He turned his head and spit out some blood. He looked at Ruby then the floor then back at Ruby.

"I'm sorry-" Tony said before begin interrupted

"Shut up" Ruby said softly and wiped the blood from her nose then looked at him. "Let's just take a minute"

Tony chuckled and sat beside her on the ground. Silence took over. After a few minutes Ruby laid her head on Tony's shoulder. He tensed up at first, but then quickly relaxed. They stayed like that for what seemed like forever. Then Tony called his other Iron Men suits to come pick them up and they went back to Germany together.
