“See you later Sunny!” Ross called out as him and Avery got to their cars.
“Bye Ross!” She said. A smile on her face as she watched him speed out of the parking lot.
“So, how was the break up?” Laura questioned as she walked behind Avery, her arms crossed over her chest.
Avery's smile instantly fell. She turned around and glared at her. “When will you give it up Laura?! I am not breaking up with Rocky just because you want me to.” She declared. Laura stomped away furiously.
“Excuse me?” A someone called out.
Avery turned to find a teenage boy, no older than her, standing on the sidewalk. “Um, hi.” She said, plastering a smile on her face.
“So, you're Avery Mason?” The guy questioned, walking up to her cautiously.
“Yeah, can I help you?” Avery questioned.
“I'm Zander. Alexander Cruz.” The boy looked at Avery and smiled. “Wow, you look just like him.” He said in awe.
She looked at him, confusion in her eyes. “Just like who?”
“Our father.”
Avery's heart skipped a beat. “Excuse me?”
“You didn't know?” He asked seriously. Zander looked into her eyes. “I'm your twin brother.”
“I'm sorry, but you have the wrong person.” Avery said, a little freaked out. She started to open her car door.
“Our mother's name is Hilary. We were born near Chicago. You were named after our great aunt.” Zander spewed out a list.
“That's all stuff you can find on the Internet.” Avery countered. “I'm sorry.” She hopped into her car.
He sighed. “Fine.” Zander thought for a moment. “Our mom, Hilary, wanted to be a flight attendant, and when she got pregnant with us, grandma offered to take us. Mom refused to let us go.”
Avery gripped the steering wheel, her knuckles turned white. She peeled out of the parking lot, the radio blasting and her sunglasses covering her crying eyes.

By the time Avery got home, she was fuming. She stormed all the way to her room. She yanked out her cell phone and angrily called her mother. “Answer the damn phone!”
“Hello?” Mrs. mason beamed when she picked up.
“Didn't you think I had the right to know?” Avery demanded, pacing around her room.
“What are you talking about?” The mother questioned.
“I am talking about the guy who came to MY job today, claiming he was my twin brother.” Avery said with an attitude. She heard the phone drop on the other side.
“Avery?” Mrs. Mason gasped when she picked up the phone. “You still there?”
“And I'm still waiting for an answer.” Avery replied coolly.
Mrs. Mason sighed. “Sunny, I am so sorry I didn't tell you.”
“So tell me KNOW.” Avery demanded. “The whole story!”
Mrs. Mason took a deep breath. “Avery, when I was seventeen, I was seeing a man names Victor. He was a little older than me.” She started her story. “Well, we did somethings I am not proud of. And I got pregnant with you and Alexander. That's when I found out that your father was a married man.” She stopped and wiped her tears. “But when it came time to have the babies, we decided that I would take you and your father would take Alexander.”
“Where you ever going to tell me?” Avery questioned, holding back her tears.
“Honey, I thought I was doing what was best for you and Alexander. For us as a family.” Mrs. Mason pleaded through her tears.
“No mom! You did what was best for YOU!” Avery yelled. She threw the the phone across the room and slide down to the floor. Tears were streaming down her face. She pulled her legs into her chest and hid her face into them.
A chime from across the room made Avery jumped. She wiped her tears and crawled across the floor. Her phone was lit up, a picture of Rocky and her kissing as her background. There was a text from Rocky. I miss u <3
~~~
An hour later, and after a very hot shower, Avery was on her way to the Lynches house. When she got to there, the only car in the drive way was Rocky's. She walked into the house and found her boyfriend on the computer, working on one of his songs. He was humming some of the lyrics, tapping his fingers, the world totally tuned out with his headphones over his ears.
Avery smiled as she watched him. She quietly walked up behind him and put her hands over his eyes.
Rocky smiled. He turned his chair around and pulled off the headphones. “Hey.” He wrapped his arms around her waist.
“Is this a new song for the tour?” Avery questioned, eying the computer monitor.
“Yeah, just something I've been working on.” Rocky started, looking at her. “You've been crying. What's the matter?”
Avery sighed and pulled herself out of Rocky's hug. “It's nothing.” She said softly, sitting in Rocky's seat, putting a smile on her face.
Rocky, knowing Avery, was not convinced. He held out his hand and gently took hers. Together, the couple made their way out of the house.
“Where are we going?” Avery questioned.
But her boyfriend didn't reply. He continued to lead her down the street, into a forest. They walked down a well worn path that led to a small, secluded, pond, shaded by a large tree. “Oh, this is beautiful.” She was in awe.
They sat under the tree, holding hands. “I found this place when we first moved here.” Rocky explained. “It's my favorite place in the world. Nobody knows about it.”
“Than, why did you bring me here?” Avery questioned, resting her head on his chest.
Rocky draped his arm over her shoulder, holding her close. “Cause I can.” He replied playfully. Then his face got serious. “Why where you crying?”
Avery thought bitterly about what happened. Before she knew what was happening, tears were escaping from her brown eyes. “I really, really, don't want to talk about it.” She whispered. The tears were coming down fast and hard.
Rocky pulled his girlfriend onto his lap and protectively wrapped his arms around her. He just let her cry onto his shoulder, gently running his finger through her long hair. Rocky started to sing one of Avery's favorite songs. Cry with You by Hunter Hayes.“You're not alone. I'll listen 'till your tears give out. You're safe and sound, I swear that I won't let you down. What's hurting you, I feel it too. I mean it when I say when you cry, I cry with you, with you.” She curled into his arms, not wanting to let go.
Rocky rested his chin on her head and laced their fingers together. “I'll always be here for you.” He press his lips to her head. “I promise.”
