"Kara? Are you alright?"

"Kara?"
With a sharp jerk of movement, Kara woke, her eyes fluttering briefly before inhaling her surroundings. Her pupils adjust, a quick flash of a sharp blue coating sliding across to aid her; she could see clearly now.
It was night, the moon was out and the sky was clouded with stars, yet it was a faint sight since the street lamps were lit. Kara was sitting on a bench, and seemed to fall asleep on Luther's shoulder while he held a sleeping Alice in his other hand; the little girl seemed so peaceful, delicate and innocent at that moment, as if she was turned off.
"Where are we?" Kara said, still trying to figure out why they were outside at such a late hour.
"We're in the park."
"Why are we here?"
Luther scoffed, causing Alice to squirm slightly in his grasp, "After we crossed the border, we met up with Rose right here. She gave us a little more money, telling us to spend the next few nights at a motel until we figure things out. As I was talking to her, you and Alice sat down, and the next thing I knew, I saw you both sleeping."
A smile graced Kara's lips as she reached out a hand, gliding her fingertips across the smooth skin on Alice's cheeks. It was strange to her; how the android skin seemed so human like. It made her chuckle that only days ago she realized the truth about Alice, and she's never looked back at the time where it was oblivious.
"She's cold." Kara said subconsciously, Alice's skin now piercing hers with the chill. "We need to leave this place. We can't sleep here at the park."
Luther took a moment before nodding, standing up and motioning Kara to follow. "Rose told me that there is a motel a few blocks down. We should be warm and safe there." With a klick of his heels, he took off down the cemented path to the sidewalk, Kara following swiftly in pursuit.
"What if they don't allow androids in?" Kara asked, her programs still fluctuating from the rude awakening just moments beforehand.
Luther chuckled, yet it was a soft laugh that presumably comforted Alice as she slept on his shoulder. "Don't worry Kara. We're in Canada. You're free."
