Blaise's POV
Ginny's red hair swayed behind her as she walked ahead of me, wand tip bright as she led us down the dark tunnel.
"So, uh... we're not lost, are we?" I couldn't help but ask. I hadn't seen her use a map of any sort. She had simply led me to a statue on the third floor and chanted a spell. It hadn't seemed like she knew what else.
"No," Ginny replied. "We're not lost."
"How do you know about this passageway?" I asked her, almost eagerly. "How do you know it'll lead us to Hogsmeade?"
Ginny stopped in her tracks and shot me a look, "Blaise, you ask a lot of questions."
I grinned, "Hey, that's how I get around. You've got to know who you're working for."
She rolled her eyes, smiling faintly, "Yeah, well... I can't tell you who we're working for today."
I frowned, "How come?"
"It's a family secret," was all she let on, before walking again. I followed from behind, hands pocketed and mind whirring.
There was a moment of quiet as our footsteps were the only sound heard in the dark passageway.

"Listen, Blaise," She stopped moving again, causing me to stop with her. "I really do appreciate you doing this for me."
I looked over at her, surprised. I smiled up to my eyes, "Hey. What are friends for?"
She smiled back, but it looked sad. As if she was weighted by the world on her shoulders, and couldn't pass on the burden.
I wished she could pass it onto me.
"I mean, I know this is really selfish of me," she babbled on. "They're obviously going to find out tomorrow, and we'll have fifty points pulled from our Houses plus we'll have detention for who knows how long..."
I just listened. She reached back and tucked a curl of red hair behind her ear.
"...and I'm forcing you into all of that," she turned to me. Our gazes locked. "Blaise. Don't let me bully you."
I rolled my eyes, "You're not bullying me."
"Yes, I am bullying you!" Her hands gestured, and the bright tip of her wand shook, throwing us both off-guard. "Blaise, I don't want you to get in trouble."
"Don't worry about me, Weaslette," I told her. "I'm a Slytherin, remember? I'm always up for trouble."
She breathed a laugh, "That's horrible."
I grinned, "It's not. What's the point of spending all your life locked up in classrooms? You should live a little. The price of being happy is totally worth it."
The words came easily to me, as though I had written down a script although really I had never thought about it so clearly. Ginny's brown eyes were large on mine.
"Wow. That's... incredible."
I mimed tipping a top hat, "Why, thank you." She laughed at this. My smile turned real.
As we walked on, I noticed she looked better. Her eyes were no longer dull, but shining with her laughter.
I really, really loved her laugh.
"So," I started, getting Ginny's attention. "Why are we here?"
"Like you said. We're living our lives."
