Luna and Quigley slowly get closer to the figure, "Hello, hello! Ah Quigley Quagmire and Luna Ellington!" The figure said, "I have been expecting the Baudelaire children, but I guess they sent me you!" Luna and Quigley exchange glances. "How do you know we're alive?" Quigley asked, "I have my ways." The man replied, "Ah, how rude of me! I'm Dr. Mongomery, but you can call me Uncle Monty!" Uncle Monty said, "Isn't Montgomery they name from the underground tunnel?" Luna asked Uncle Monty put his arms around the two orphans and started leading them to his orange van. "Why won't he tell us anything!" Luna said as she hopped into the back of the van, "I agree, something is off." Quigley said nodding his head. Luna pulled out a notebook from the pocket of he flowered skirt.
All three Quagmire and the one Ellington had notebooks, Isadora's was black and she used it to practice her poetry, Duncan's was green and he used it to write journalism, and Quigley had a purple notebook and used it for his cartography. Luna's notebook was blue and she had used it for drawing, just like Quigley, but instead of mapping out everything, she drew it. Luna sketched out the orange van and Uncle Monty. "How do you know us?" Luna said closing her notebook, "I was a friend of both your parents." Uncle Monty said as he turned the wheel barely making the turn, "But why don't we?" Quigley asked, "I-I don't know." Uncle Monty said pulling up at a huge house with snake shaped bushes and some sort of clear dome on the top of the house. "You see I'm a herpetologist, which means I study snakes and other reptiles, Uncle Monty pulled over, and opened the doors of the car. As Luna jumped out of the van she looked up at the sun wondering why she couldn't go and see her step-siblings at the so-called Prufrock Preparatory school. Quigley grabbed her arm, "Luna, is something wrong?" he said, "Yes, everything is wrong I have already lost my parents and then lost my adoptive ones!" Luna said, "and our siblings, my step-siblings, are alive but we can't see them, and now we are at someone's house that we don't even know?" She finished, "I know that was not in great circumstances but its better than nothing." Quigley said pointing the huge house, Uncle Monty brought them in and they all had some coconut cake, Uncle Monty also showed them the reptile room. After that, the children had dinner and went to bed.
"Good Morning," Luna said getting out of bed, "I'm sleeping leave me alone," Quigley said moving his hand around. "Fine, you asked for it!" Luna pushed Quigley until he finally fell onto the floor, "Hey," He said as he threw his pillow toward Luna. "Let's go down and see how Uncle Monty is doing!" Luna suggested and Quigley answered he with a nod as they walked down the stairs, as they walked down they thought of how lovely their new lives were going to be until, "MONTY!" Luna screamed I'll skip this part over, someone had killed Uncle Monty. The Ellington and Quagmire didn't know what to do as they were startled by the fact that their Uncle was killed in cold blood.
Quigley looked out the window to see some sort of small blue, washed out car, "Someones here," He said not looking too excited, "I think you will enjoy living with your new guardian, Dr. Mongomery!" Mr. Poe said, "I hope it's better than the last." Violet said, "Boha." Sunny said which meant something like, "Who is this Montgomery?" but she should have said, "Who WAS this Montgomery?". slowly Luna approached the door and opened it, "Who are you?" she asked, "Sorry that was rude, um how do you do?" Luna said, "I'm Violet and these are my sibling Sunny and Klaus." Violet said, Luna, turned to look at Klaus and smiled at him, "We are here because the Baudelaire's are staying with their Uncle Mongomery." Mr. Poe said instantly Luna avoided eye contact with any of them. "Uncle Monty can't come right now." She said as her eyes started tearing up, even though she didn't know hr Uncle Monty for very long she knew he had a great heart. "I'm sure he wouldn't mind us coming in." Mr. Poe said trying to get past Luna, "NO!" Luna had said but Mr. Poe got past her, "Where is he?" Mr. Poe asked, "There.." Luna said pointing to the reptile room, the children and Mr. Poe walked into the room, as they saw Monty there dead on the floor. Mr. Poe took action and called the police and grabbed, Luna, Violet, and Klaus, "Wait!" Luna said, "I can't leave Quigley!" she said, "We must go!" Mr. Poe said, "NO!" Luna said as she went around the house to find Quigley packing up the clothes, that were now very limited, "We have to go." Luna said, "I found this in the reptile room," Quigley said showing a piece of paper to Luna, "Count Olaf killed Monty?" Luna read out loud, "That's creepy." Luna said, "Yes it is." Quigley agreed, "But we really must go." Luna Grabbed the case full of clothes and grabbed Quigley's hand they found Mr. Poe, Violet, Klaus and Sunny waiting for them, "We really must be going come now orphans." Mr. Poe said, Quigley looked at Violet and smiled she smiled back.
The ride was long, but Luna and Quigley talked to the Baudelaire's and they soon all became close friends, "Mr. Poe?" Violet asked "Mmh." Mr. Poe said, "Where are you taking us?" she asked, "To Prufrock Preparatory school!" He said. "Prufrock Preparatory school!" Luna and Quigley said at the same time, "Yes that's what I said Prufrock Preparatory school." Luna smiled and Quigley and he did back. They know both knew they would be back with their siblings or step-siblings soon.
"Why, why, why, why, why!" Isadora said, "Why was there a fire they destroyed our home and killed our parents along with Quigley and Luna!" Isadora started to cry, "All things happen for a reason, I guess." Duncan said.
