Disclaimer - the agents of shield don't belong to me, however the characters of Nix, Hazel, Jamie, Iris and Lyra are all my original ideas.

Iris POV
After a long night of waking, feeding, crying, and then eventually sleeping, I awoke to the yellow sunshine filtering in through the open window. The air was crisp from the morning breeze and I could smell pancakes.
Looking across, Lyra was still fast asleep in her carseat, clutching her yellow blanket. I carefully picked her up as I wandered out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. Jamie was stood in front of the hob, still in his pjs and dancing along to the radio. As I approached, he turned around and smiled.
"Morning," he said cheerfully, plating up the final pancake, "I didn't want to wake you."
"Aww thanks," I replied, awkwardly holding Lyra as he placed the plates on the table, "you know we really need to get some baby furniture today," I laughed, placing her on the armchair where she continued to sleep. I sat down to eat and we talked about our situation.
"I never expected my first home to end up being like this," Jamie joked, stuffing more pancake into his mouth.
"I know," I replied, "are we doing the right thing? Separating their family?"
"It's for the best, she wouldn't survive without it,"
"Yeah but she needs her parents,"
"And I'm sure they'll understand. Fitzsimmons have to. They wouldn't want her to be tortured, and anyway now it's up to Hazel and Nix to tell them." We talked more about what things we needed for the apartment.
An hour later, we were at the closest ikea and looking at the children's section.
"You know Iris," Jamie leaned down to hold Lyra's tiny fingers, "We're getting some pretty weird looks,"
"That's probably because we don't nearly look old enough to have a kid."
"Come on, you're 18, I'm 19, it's legal,"
"Yeah I guess," He looked at the cribs, pointing out a wooden one that he liked. After checking the price and writing down reference numbers of all the other thinks we saw, we were at the end. "You're gonna have a lot of fun putting all this up," I laughed.
"Hey," he pouted, "I'm an engineer, I know how to do stuff like this." I laughed at his mock annoyance before carrying on to the till."
————
Once we arrived home he started building the crib right away. I snuggled and fed Lyra, helping Jamie occasionally.
Soon enough the few items we had bought were assembled, and I lay Lyra down in her new wooden crib. Once again she was dozing off, so we decided to play cards in the living room.
"I've got to start the new job tomorrow," Jamie said, breaking the silence, "remember, at the mechanics." I nodded as I remembered the plan the four of us had created - live domestically until Nix sends us a message saying we can come home, in the meantime, make friends with the neighbours whilst Jamie works on his engineering at the mechanics across the street.
This was going to be an interesting few months.
