Disclaimer - the agents of shield don't belong to me, however the characters of Nix, Hazel, Jamie, Iris and Lyra are all my original ideas.

Nix POV

It was 1am and the silence was eerie. It was a contrast to before, we had fallen asleep out of exhaustion to the sound of yelling.

Looking around now though all I could see was darkness. I turned on the bedside lamp as I got up, Hazel was still sleeping although stirred a little at the brightness of the lamp.

I walked over to the door, unlocking it and venturing outside, heading towards the kitchen. I hadn't eaten for several hours and was absolutely starving. Turning in the bright white lights I headed over to the cupboard, looking for a snack.

"Can't sleep either?" A voice echoed from behind me. I turned around, still in a haze from waking up, and noticed a very tired looking Fitz who was sitting at the breakfast bar. He had a glass in his had and was swirling round an auburn liquid.

"Not particularly," I replied, taking the cookies I had found and walking over to the breakfast bar. "Have you heard anything off Coulson?" I asked noticing how broken he looked.

"Not much." His eyes looked down at his drink and back up to mine, "Only that she's safe and some S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents are looking after her."

"That's good news though, right?"

"I guess but I just want to hold her again, cuddle her, give her a name." Fitz's eyes had glazed over. There was a pain in my chest which was making me question if we had done the right thing. It was even more shattering that I couldn't inform him or any of the others about our involvement. "And I don't know when I'll next see her, if I ever see her again."

"Of course you will," I said looking him in the eye, "I'm sure of that."
