The grip Eli had on my hand and arm got tighter the closer we got to the restaurant. We were meeting with Shawn and Lauren. Lauren and I came to keep the peace. I squeezed her hand softly as I opened the door for her and walked to the back booth where Lauren and Shawn were sitting. He was laughing about something but as soon as his eyes landed on me, fury ran through his body. He stood up quickly going to grab Eli's arm and she pulled back standing more behind me.
"Baby. It's just me." He said softly and Eli shook her head and my head did the same. We sat down in the booth and Shawn's eyes burned into me as I wrapped my arm around her shoulders.
"We came here so she could get closure." I spoke up.
"She doesn't need closure. She needs me." He said through gritted teeth.
"Bullshit Shawn." She spit crossing her arms over her chest. I looked down at her same body. Her hair was starting to turn brown at the roots clumped looking greasy. The bags under her eyes were almost as black as the chipped nail polish on her fingers. Her plump baby pink lips were chapped and had dried blood in the deep crevices. She licked them slowly and looked up at me. Where her eyes should've been white, they were bloodshot making her ocean blue eyes even more blue. I let out a sigh as she blinked and leaned her body against my chest.
"You cheated Shawn. Fucking grow a pair and deal with it. Also deal with the fact that Hailey didn't want you either. Did she figure out about Eli or did she just let you cheat on her?" I sat forward placing my elbows on the table and resting my chin on my fists.
"Shut the fuck up Maloley. You don't know anything. And I love how you've known her for a mere 24 hours and you already gave her a nickname." He laughed coldly and I wanted to lunge at his throat. My jaw clenched and Eli rested her hand on my thigh. I watched Lauren go to take a sip of her milkshake as she looked at her phone. Great support Laur.
"I slept with him." Eli said putting her hand on my arm. Shawn looked at her with wide eyes while Lauren spit her shake all over the table.
"You slept with him?" He says surprised.
"Like Lil Duke said, she made you wait 3 months, first day she let me fuck." I wink. Shawn stood up quickly making Lauren and Eli jump in their seats. I stood up as he got in my face. I look down at him as he was maybe 2-3 inches shorter than me.
"You fucking dick. You know I love her." He shoves me back and I stumble back a step. I fix my hoodie and stand in my place not wanting to start a fight with him in public.
"You don't cheat on someone you say you love. At least I could say that I would never ever lay a hand on her. I would never cheat. I would wake up next to her everyday and be thankful to god that he put her in my life. I would bring her to my parents because she's the type of person you want to take home to make your mom proud of you. Also she's so smart and so beautiful and you took a sweet innocent girl for granted." I spit and he laughs.
"You know what? Have my sloppy seconds. She obviously doesn't care if she let you see her naked on the first day of knowing you." He wiped his hands as if he were getting rid of her.
"You're a fucking dick. If you knew anything about her you would know that we didn't sleep together." I grab her hand and quickly pull her out of the small diner.
"Nathan!" Eli yells pulling me out of my thoughts.
"I'm sorry." I let out a deep breath.
"Thank you." She wrapped her small arms around me putting her face in my chest.
"Anything for you." I smiled. She looked up at me resting her chin on my chest. I moved my hands to her cheeks and leaned down to connect our lips. The kiss was slow but I could feel her feelings through the kiss. She did like me which made it not as awkward as I thought it would be. Our first real kiss. This was something I'd remember forever. We pulled away and she looked down with her face still in my hands. I kissed the top of her head and she looked back up at me.
"What makes me so special in your eyes?"
