The next day was school. I met up with Imogen at the front gate. As I approached her I saw Eli park his car and walk towards me. I turned around to wave at Eli but Imogen grabbed my arm and pulled me inside. She ran with me to the music room. I then met up with Georgia a grade niner, Joshua also a grade niner and Felix a senior year student. I then asked “What am I doing here?”
Imogen yelled with desperation “We need a lead singer and you were in the choir, so your joining us!”
I backed away and said “I don’t know….”
Felix held out the microphone and said “You’re going to save us and the school needs awesome music.”
I smiled and took the microphone from him. I read the lyrics and watched them play the background music. Felix was on the piano, Joshua was on Base Guitar, Georgia was playing the cello and Imogen was playing the Drums.
I started singing the list of songs with them and we sounded magical. Everyone played beautifully and we sounded awesome. Felix was the leader of the group and the band was called FireFoxez. The morning bell went and Felix organised with the principle to perform at tomorrow’s lunchtime in the cafeteria.
I walked to English class early. I approached the door and Eli pushed in front and opened the door for me. We went into the classroom and sat down. I sat behind Eli. The teacher hadn’t come yet and so Eli turned around on his chair. He leaned over closer to my desk and asked “Where were you this morning?”
I didn’t want to say anything so I led him on “I was getting help by my music teacher.”
He laughed and said “Since when did you like music.”
I growled back “Well then, you don’t know much about me.”
He turned back around and the teacher came in and all the other students. After class I quickly walked out and to my next lesson. It came to break time and I sat with Felix and his other friends and not with Eli. I was on one side of the cafeteria and Eli was sitting with Adam, Imogen and Emma on the other side. I saw Eli glance at me every so often. I started to join in laughing with Felix making it obvious that I was happy. I stood up to go to get water and Eli came to me. At the vending machine Eli said to me “Why are you with Felix. He is annoying, loud and just I don’t like him.”
I pushed him out of the way to walk but Eli swung me back around and I yelled “Well he is sweet, fun and kind! You just don’t know him well enough!” and I kept on walking back to my seat.
In science the class had to work in groups. I was partnered With Adam and Imogen, Emma was with another group. Adam asked “Why were you sitting with Felix at lunch?”
I gave Imogen a stare with flare to say nothing. I replied with “Just nothing, Felix is a friend.”
“A pretty annoying friend.” Adam commented.
I gave Adam an angry stare and kicked him underneath the table. After lunch and the rest of the lessons I was in a bad mood. Eli texted me so many times saying sorry, but I ignored them all.
The next day of school I was at my locker sitting on the floor with headphones and looking on my laptop. Eli came and sat next to me. He tried to hold my hand but moved my hand to avoid it. Eli shut my laptop and took off my headphones.
Eli said “I’m sorry for how I reacted yesterday please forgive me.”
I picked up my stuff and said “Yeah…”
Eli smiled and I gave him peck on the lips. It wasn’t much and so I got up and went to the music room. I practiced with the band and we spent most of the day preparing the cafeteria for lunchtime.
It came to lunch and the school captains were saying their welcome. Imogen shook the nerves out of me. The rest of the band went on but I didn’t I was supposed to come on after Imogen sings the intro. I saw Eli in the crowd asking people where I was. The band started to play. Imogen sand the intro like the pro. All the instruments sounded amazing. As I walked on to the centre I saw Eli starting to walk away.
I opened my mouth and my voice exploded with words. I gave all my heart into it. Eli froze still and turned around. We made eye contact. I sang and smiled to him. He smiled back and watched in shock. As I neared the end I gave full power into my last high-long note. Once we finished there was a couple of seconds silent as everyone stood in shock. Eli started to clap and then the whole school applauded. We all bowed and I shouted “We are the FireFoxez” and everyone went crazy with clapping. I walked side stage and I didn’t realise Eli had come to the side. HE smiled and said “I never you had an amzing voice and powerful like that.”
I went down one step and wrapped my arms around him and said “I’m just full of surprises.” And I gave him a kiss.
Imogen came up and said “Stop making out you two lovebirds it’s time to meet our fans hahaha.”
Imogen pulled me away but I ran back and gave him another kiss and left to go to the crowd.
After the billion hugs I went to my locker to get my lunch for second half of lunchtime. I opened it and a note fell out. I opened it and it was from Eli saying ‘Come to the art room ASAP.’
I walked to the art room trying to avoid any teachers. I opened the door and went in. The lights weren’t on but there was a sunlight pouring in for the windows making it just enough to see in the darkness. It was quiet and I could hear was my own breath. I took a few steps and said “Uh hello….?”
I had no answer for a bit. The door clicked behind me so I was locked in. I started to worry thinking what was happening. Then a shadow came from the darkness in the corner and Eli stood out.
I walked to him and said “You got me worried. What do you need me for?”
He pulled me closer and said “I just need a kiss.”
I smiled and kissed him. We soon got a bit over the top he pushed me to and table and we made out half way through our moment we heard keys in the lock in the door. Eli and I stopped and ran behind two giant paintings.
I whispered to him “I thought no one was coming in.”
He held me and said “I didn’t think so, just keep quiet.”
The room was silent I could hear the water drops falling from the art sink. I heard footsteps approaching I started to shake and Eli squeezed me tighter. Then a woman’s voice spoke “Anyone in here? Come out now.”
El and I had no choice but to expose ourselves. Eli showed me a palette with paint. Eli whispered “Put this on your hands and a mark on your face it will look like we had to be in hear. Also put headphones in to look like you couldn’t hear her.”
I painted my hand and made a mark on my face. I put headphones in but nothing was playing. Eli found wet clay and smothered his hands in it and made a miniature bowl and marked his face and put headphones on. We casually stepped out and acted surprised to see the teacher.
She scolded “What are you two doing in here!”
Eli replied “Were working on our art, Miss.”
I nodded to support Eli. Miss then turned on the light and said “The bell will ring just pack up now and go to class.” She left the room.
I smiled to Eli and gave him a kiss.
