The whole of the week I showed up and watched every performance of Romeo and Juliet, Eli’s play. Once all the excitement finished from the play my band was practicing for the Battle of the Bands. We chose a catchy song that everyone could sing along to. Felix was able to score our band a lunchtime performance today to play our chosen song and see if people liked it. Before lunch our band had time to setup. Felix and the rest of the band set up the instruments I set up the cafeteria to face the mini stage. I joined the band in helping to set up and Felix and I started to have fun. He wrapped me around in cables while I tried to break free. After 5 minutes I didn’t realise Eli was was watching. It was his spare and he came to wish me luck. I un-tangled myself and ran up to Eli and gave him a hug.
Instead of a hello back to me he rudely questioned “Having fun with Felix eh?”
I answered back “no we were just playing around, nothing happened. What you don’t trust me?”
He kissed me and said “Nevermind, I over react.”
The lunch bell rang and I closed the curtains. I stood with the microphone and Felix came up to me and asked “Are you and your boyfriend alright?”
I looked at him and said surprised “Yes were good….”
The curtains drew back and I whispered into the microphone “You ready to rock?” and we started playing. The whole café clapped along and loved the song. Once we finished the whole band high-fived and I announced “Come to the Battle of the Bands and watch us Rock out!”
Then we all packed our things in the school van provided for the competition. The band got in but Eli grabbed my arm and swung me around and kissed me.
I asked “Are you going to give me more of those kind of kisses when were at the competition?”
Eli smiled and said “I’ll be driving right behind you.”
As we got there our band had a tent setup for us to chill in. Felix and I started to joke around again.
I got up and said to the band “I’m going to get drinks.”
Felix stopped me outside the tent and said to me “Thanks for joining the band, without your vocals we would be crap.”
He hugged me friendly an I walked off the get the drinks. Waiting in the line I noticed Eli walk into my band’s tent. I paid and walked back. Before I went in I heard Eli yelling at Felix. Soon after I heard them rolling on the floor. I ran in and saw Eli throw a punch at Felix but he blocked it. I put the drinks on the table and pulled Eli off Felix.
I yelled to Eli “What the hell!”
Eli replied “He is trying to win you over!”
I yelled back “No one is wnning me over I am with you! What now I can’t hang out with guys because you think their going to win me over, your jealousy is out of control!”
Felix and the rest of the band took the insturments back stage while I still was in the tent with Eli
Eli tried to hold me hand to say sorry but I pushed him away.
I continued to yell at him “Everytime I see you with another girl I freak out inside but I don’t go and punch them! I thought that we completely trusted each other! If you go off to University next year and I stay here how are we going to tust each other and stay together! Maybe our plan isn’t going to work out! When your at Uni your probably going to be surrounded by other girls, and one day your going to cheat! I don’t want to feel the pain all over again! I think it’s time we parted!”
Eli’s eyes started to water and he said “I’m sorry my jealousy won’t be like this.”
He tried to hold my hands.
I pushed him back again and yelled “Ever since I started hanging out with the band mostly Felix your jealousy has become intense, I can’t deal with it anymore!”
I kssed him on the cheek and approached the tent door to leave. I turned back to Eli and said “Your jealousy has driven us apart.”
I joined the band on stage and started to sing. I watched Eli walk off to his car. He crashed his fists on the car and I watched him cry and drive off.
The next day of school Eli and I didn’t even see each other.
The principle announced our win in the competition for highest score overall in the competition.
