YOU STOOD WITH Claire inside of the rickety, horrifyingly unstable elevator. You had gone with her to get some coffee for another stressful morning.

"It's today, isn't it?" you queried, glancing up at the older woman.

"It's today," if she didn't wear makeup, you knew you'd see the dark bags under her eyes from late nights stressing over this day. And, the thing was, you had even started wearing a bit of makeup to cover your own circles.

Claire had offered to help find a residence for you and Zach in the neighborhood, making it easier for you to get to the DPG on time. Zach had gotten himself a decent job in construction and was the source of your money, as the group Claire had founded was merely voluntary.

You've been working with her to get dinosaurs the respect and love they deserved, but it's turning out to be quite the challenge, especially with the volcano threatening the island.

Today was the day Ian Malcolm would confer with political leaders to decide the fate of the prehistoric creatures. You've been doing all you could to convince Dr. Malcolm to see your point of view, but he's ignored your efforts.

The elevator doors slid open, only to stop, leaving a narrow gap for you and Claire. She slipped out and you followed with a sigh.

The room was almost as poor as the elevator as you trailed the redhead, noticing with slight interest that Zia was on the phone, awkwardly chatting with the person.

As soon as she saw you two, she handed it over to Claire, who promptly walked away with it.

"Who is it?" you questioned.

"Some congresswoman," Zia answered with a shrug.

The chair in front of you turned and Franklin smirked at Zia, "That was, like, forty seconds. You're getting better."

"And you gotta stop letting your mom shop for you," she snorted.

"You don't need to insult me everytime someone pisses you off," Franklin shook his head.

"Dude, I'm a doctor, not a telemarketer. What is your job again? You plug in cords, right?" Zia countered.

"It's actually more important than it sounds." He huffed.

You rolled your eyes, "Do you two always have to fight? Like, I swear if you don't stop I'm going to get Gray in here and he'll ship you," you threatened playfully.

"I don't like ships," Franklin's brows knitted together, oblivious to the romantic meaning of "ship."

You and Zia shared a glance before bursting with laughter. He stared at you both with confusion. Then his eyes flicked behind you and widened, "Hey! Hey, it's on! Guys!"

You instantly whipped around to see the debate on the TV screen, diving for the remote.

"Turn it up!" Claire exclaimed just as you did so.

"... take preventative action to protect the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar. After thorough deliberations, the committee has resolved not to recommend any legislative action regarding the de-extinct creatures on Isla Nublar. This is an act of God, abd while of course, we feel great sympathy for theae animals, we cannot condone government involvement, on what amounts to be a privately-owned venture."

Well, that definitely killed your mood. You flung yourself into a seat, fingers curled into fists. "So they're all gonna die and no one gives two shits."

"We do," Claire corrected, coming over to place a hand on your shoulder. Out of the entire organization, you were the one with the biggest resolve to protect the dinosaurs, and Claire knew that.

You opened your mouth to mutter something that'd sound hopeless, but a phone went off. She briefly locked eyes with you before quickly grabbing it and answering.

"Yes, this is Claire Dearing," you couldn't hear what the person was saying as she paced in front of you.

A moment passed, "Yes, of course. I'll hold."

Five minutes of "yes", "no", and "of course!" made you more and more curious until she finally set doen the phone, eyes wide and relieved. Claire reached down to squeeze your hands.

"We have a meeting with Mr. Lockwood to discuss the dinosaurs!" She explained enthusiastically.

A grin blossomed on your face, "Hell yeah!"
