YOU PRESSED YOURSELF AGAINST the corner as Wheatley checked in on Zia and Blue, demanding blood samples, to which Zia snapped in reply and he left. Then you quickly jumped off, sliding underneath the truck with Owen and Claire, but Franklin didn't make it and was confronted by a man.
"I needed a pair of extra hands," Zia swooped in to save him and the man dragged Franklin away to do chores. You cursed. He wouldn't last long.
Then you were boarding an empty truck and Claire and Owen as the boat began to empty. The trucks followed a strict line through a deep forest and you furrowed your brow.
"Where are we going?" Claire mumbled.
"We're about to find out.." Owen responded.
Up ahead, a large, familiar mansion crawled into view and your eyes flew wide. "Lockwood Estate," both you and Claire cried with shock.
The line of trucks rolled to a halt, "Must have a big ass garage," Owen commented, but their conversation died at once when they realized they were surrounded by armed men.
"Hello. You should have stayed on the island; better chances," Ken Wheatley stated, gun pointed directly at Claire's head. You growled lowly.
Then you were dragged inside of the mansion and to a hidden basement where the dinosaurs were being loaded into reinforced cages. Anger festered in your chest at the hopeless animals as they paced and cried. An anger that made you elbow the face of the nearest armed man.
After that, your wrists were wrenched behind you, sending pain down your arms. Owen gritted his teeth, but knew it was hopeless.
You were thrown into a cage like the dinosaurs, and soon Eli appeared, the man you had disliked from the very beginning. You should have known he was behind this.
"Hi, Claire, Y/n," Eli began. "I just wanted to come and apologize. I didn't want to bring either of you into this, but we needed those Raptors. And you two," he turned to you and Owen, "brought us even more than we could ask for. Thank you."
"Take that gratitude and shove it back up your ass, fuckface," you snapped, glaring furiously at him. Eli sighed, but Owen spoke next.
"So, what? Is this all? You're a smart guy who started a foundation to cure cancer. But instead, you.. what?"
You added, "sell endangered species."
"I saved them," Eli argued with a glare.
"Why don't you let that Allosaurus out and see how grateful she is," you snorted underneath your breath.
"You betrayed a dying man for money," Claire countered.
"Claire, I admire your idealism, but we both exploited these animals. At least I have the integrity to admit it," Eli responded coolly.
"I never, ever did anything remotely illegal," she hissed.
"You authorized the creation of the Indominus Rex. You exploited a living thing, in a cage, for money," Eli's eyes flashed challengingly, "how is that any different? Huh? And you." He turned toward you and your brother.
"The siblings who proved Raptors could follow orders. Did you never think of the applications of your research, your training? Do you have any idea how much a trained predator costs?" Eli paused, scanning the three of you, "You.. you're the creators of the new world."
Then Owen grabbed Eli's arm and twisted it through the bars. Claire jumped to get him to let go while guns turned his way. Eventually, Owen released him, and then Claire sucker punched him square in the face, breaking his glasses. It was a shame that you couldn't partake in the violence, but you were proud of Claire and Owen.
Eli left after that and you curled up against the wall, leaning against Owen, plotting several ways you'd extract revenge. You pondered how Foxtrot and his pack were doing.
"Do you remember the first time you saw a dinosaur?" Claire suddenly spoke up, and you followed her gaze to a Triceratops female and her baby, who tapped the bars with its beak. "First time you see them, it's like a miracle.. you read about them in books, you see bones in museums, but you don't really believe it."
Claire paused, scanning the animals, "Like myths. Then you see the first one alive..."
"This isn't your fault, Claire," you shuffled toward her to give her an affectionate hug.
"But it is," she mumbled.
"No, this one's on me," Owen responded with a shake of his head.
"I showed them the way," Claire said.
Owen shook his head again, "You and I are gonna have plenty of time to talk about this later."
"If there is a later.."
"Yes, there is," Owen nodded confidently, "I still got a cabin to finish."
Then there was a sharp bang and the three of you jumped. You searched for the noise, but couldn't find anything that would make it until Owen pulled himself up to the window at the top of the brick wall.
"Look at who just woke up." Then he turned to you and Claire with determination twinkling in his eyes, "We're getting out of here."
"Are you sure about this?" Claire fretted as Owen tried to irritate the Stigymoloch on the other side. By whistling, it got the creature to ram the wall.
Several more times, the Stigymoloch head-butted the wall, the bricks slowly loosening until it smashed through. Owen moved to the door, whistling again, and it rammed through, although it hit its head on a metal column.
You winced at the noise, but it seemed okay and ran off. Then the three of you were finding an exit, but instead you found a little girl. The girl retreated when she saw you, climbing into a lift and preparing to leave when Claire called out.
"Hey, wait! Please, wait!" she said desperately.
"Hey, kid," Owen began, "wanna come down out of there?" slowly, she complied, sliding from the lift hesitantly.
"Do you remember us?" You asked, gesturing to Claire and yourself, the girl nodded. "I'm Y/n, and this is Claire and my big brother, Owen."
"What's your name?" Claire asked.
"Maisie. Maisie Lockwood," you smiled at her, but she turned toward Owen. "I saw you, with the Velociraptors. And Blue."
Owen spared you a glance, but you took no offence in it and he turned back to Maisie. "You like dinosaurs? So do I. Tell you what, you come on over here and I'll tell you everything you want to know about Blue."
Maisie took a hesitant step toward you.
"We need some help finding your grandfather," Claire said softly, "can you take us to him?"
Maisie's "no" was cold and flat.
"You made it down here all by yourself, huh? Brave kid," you smiled down at her admiringly. "Looks like you could use a friend."
"He's gone!" Maisie cried suddenly, built-up tears running down her face. You pulled her into a hug, and she squeezed you tightly. You rubbed her back.
"I'll tell you what, we're about to go get our friends and get the heck out of this place. Wanna come with us?" Owen asked.
"We could use a friend, too," Claire added.
