IT SEEMED LIKE AN eternity passed as you sat in that clearing, contemplating what to do. You weren't strong enough to carry Owen back, but you knew you had to do something.

While you weren't paying attention, a Sinoceratops approached Owen's unconscious body. You turned to stare wide-eyed at the creature, prepared to try to shoo it away if it hurt him. However, it bent over him and instead began to drag its thick, slimy tongue across his face. It was disgusting, but it woke Owen up and you couldn't help laughing at his reaction.

But your amusement was cut short by flaming trees and glowing lava as it slowly edged toward you. After awaking Owen, the Sinoceratops shuffled away.

"Owen!" You realized how close he was to the lava and rushed to his aide, helping him drag his unresponsive limbs away from danger.

Then you began trudging through the jungle, occasionally helping Owen while his limbs slowly came to life again.

Eventually, you found yourselves running for your lives from a horde of ash as lava followed and other animals charged with you down the sloping plains.

You panted heavily, thankful for the daily runs Zach took you on. You kept pace with Owen, who held your hand to prevent separation. Fear coursed through your limbs, giving you a boost of adrenaline.

A pair of Gallimimus rushed past you, as well as an Ankylosaur and a Stegosaur, and many others. Ahead of you, you noticed with relief that Claire and Franklin were alright, but they weren't moving.

"Run! Go!" Owen shouted, waving his free arm. They turned to you, then got the hint and bolted.

The four of you made it to a lone Gyrosphere, which you, Claire, and Franklin managed to climb in before the door shut. You sat uncomfortably in the center, but realized that there wasn't time for comfort when faced with danger.

Owen paused and you followed his gaze to find a stalking Carnotaurus, its head low and teeth flashing. It circled the Gyrosphere and you pressed your hands against the glass wall, against Owen's hands as he kept the sphere between himself and the carnivore.

However, the Carnotaurus seemed to lose interest in him and charged another Sinoceratops--possibly the same one from earlier?--but it fought it off and bolted and the dinosaur turned back to charge Owen.

But, the four of you jumped and watched in shock, a Tyrannosaurus--the infamous Rexy, as you could tell by her scars--clamped her jaws around the Carnotaurus' neck and threw it to the ground. In defiance, she stepped on its shoulders and you heard a sickening crack as it whined in pain.

Rexy raised her head and roared, you watched in astonishment, especially when she simply left you uninterestedly. How many times would that beautiful queen save you?

Owen tried peeling open the glass Gyrosphere door, but it didn't budge and then they were suddenly moving. The Gyrosphere easily left Owen behind and you twisted around with a tearful face to scream after him until he, unfortunately, vanished amidst the ash.

Your cries, however, turned to screams when the Gyrosphere suddenly plunged off a cliff and into the ocean, but returned when you watched the helpless dinosaurs jump in. They were drowning, without any nearby land to escape to, their mournful cries filling the air and you sniffled, scrubbing your cheeks roughly. Claire grasped your hand, a tear sliding from her own eye.

Then a crack appeared in the glass and water began soaking you and the other two as the Gyrosphere began to sink. Molten pebbles spotted the top, causing more leaks, and you began to panick.

The three of you tried vainly to peel open the doors, but they wouldn't budge, no matter how hard you hit, kicked, and shoved them. Franklin was beginning to hyperventilate and you patted his shoulder grimly.

"We're gonna die!" he cried.

Then Owen appeared with a gun, and, after you all backed up, he shot another hole, but it was uneffective. Then he swam toward the surface again.

"Where is he going?" Franklin exclaimed, "Where is he going?!"

"Okay, don't panic, we're not gonna die," Claire's reassuring words were however hollow and did nothing to calm anyone's nerves as the water rose rapidly.

"Take a deep breath," you said as the water finally rose above your heads. You inhaled as much oxygen as you could, and then Owen reappeared with a knife and began prying the door off. It worked, thankfully, and you escaped.

It took torturously long moments to maneuver through the dinosaur-infested waters and to a sandy shore on the other side.

As you crawled out of the water and fell onto shore, you realized how exhausted you were and rolled onto your back, letting the sun warm your face.

"Where's Zia?"

"It was a double-cross," you answered, eyes closed, "they took her. She must be with the Raptors. Oh!" you suddenly jolted upright, realizing that Owen had missed the new members of the pack. You turned to your brother excitedly, "Owen! There's more of them."

"More of what?" his brows furrowed with confusion.

"Velociraptors!" you exclaimed.

At his shocked expression, Claire gasped, "They must have bred! That's wonderful!"

"Yeah, but that doesn't help with anything," Franklin pointed out pessimistically, "just more carnivorous, man-eating lizards."

Claire's face fell instantly at the weight of their betrayal and she exhaled shakily.

Owen turned to her, "hey, can you still track them?" but Claire shook her head.

"Not anymore. It was a lie," she scooped up wet sand and threw it into the ocean, "it was all a lie!"

"Not all of it.."

As Owen stated that, a helicopter carrying a flailing Baryonyx flew into view and you shared a glance with your big brother.
