OUTSIDE OF MAISIE'S room, you could hear the rumble of the Indoraptor. You had gotten there just in time. Owen kicked down the door, gun aimed for the raptor as he instructed Maisie to stay down so he could open fire. You, weaponless, had to stay back.

You snuck around the wall to Maisie's side, embracing her tightly as the Indoraptor coward, as though in pain.

Excitement and hope bubbled in my chest, until the Indoraptor stood tall, the bullets slowly falling out of its skin. It was bulletproof.

Maisie's grip on you tightened, your eyes wide with shock, mouth agape. Owen dropped his rifle as it was useless while the Indoraptor approached him, growling.

A new hiss sounded to Owen's left and your eyes found a poised Blue. She launched herself at the raptor, and to your shock and delight, an orange raptor lunged inside the room as well. Foxtrot and Blue fought with the Indoraptor as Owen joined you and Maisie, hugging you both.

You watched, teary eyed, as the Indoraptor shook Foxtrot off and flung Blue toward the bed. You scrambled to get off before she crushed it, with Owen leading you to the balcony.

The Indoraptor attempted to bite you, but Foxtrot barreled into its head, shoving it away. For a brief moment, your eyes caught Foxtrot's and you felt that familiar bond between you two.

"Thank you," you whispered.

"Follow me," Maisie climbed over the railing and followed a ledge across the wall. You and Owen followed, turning a corner. The window in-between you and Maisie burst open from Blue and the Indoraptor, causing the three of you to fall and slide harshly down the slanted roof.

You landed on a flat section next to the glass domed roof of the museum. Owen ushered you and Maisie up a ladder to the top of it as the Indoraptor fell behind you.

You rushed to the the of the dome, standing precariously on a metal beam. You held Maisie as Owen turned toward the Indoraptor that had followed you.

It tried to place a clawed hand on the glass, however it broke beneath its weight and it simply roared, startling you.

Maisie slipped, and you went with her, but Owen managed to grab your wrist. All three of you were hanging from the roof, with only one of Owen's arms preventing you from falling to your deaths. You would never again question Owen's strength.

A loud banging gained the Indoraptor's attention while it was approaching you, and you glanced up to find Claire striking a metal beam with a rifle. She began to aim it while she had its attention, allowing us to climb onto the roof safely.

She turned on the lazer, and pointed it straight to Owen's chest. Owen, understanding, spread open his arms, and Claire pressed the button. You reached for Maisie's hand.

The Indoraptor went into a frenzy, leaping for Owen as he ran and slid across the glass. Underneath the Indoraptor's weight, the glass caved and it nearly fell in, but it caught hold of a metal beam and pulled itself back up.

You were ready to scream in frustration, standing protectively between Maisie and the beast as it turned back to Owen. From the darkness behind it, you caught sight of Blue. She had climbed through the rain and now leaped onto the Indoraptor, and they both fell.

From below, you heard a victorious roar from the Velociraptor, and you released a relieved breath.

Once the four of you had clambered down safely, you treaded through the building toward the front doors. But something caught your attention and you snuck away for a moment.

Inside a half-eaten corpse's bag was an egg. It was large and black, despite the usual coloration being eggshell white. Was this an Indoraptor?

You recalled the creature's intelligence, and the way it had called out, as if lonely. It had been caged its entire life and only taught to kill.

If it was raised differently, could it be practically an enlarged Velociraptor? You ran your fingers iver the smooth surface. If you left it here, it would surely hatch and possibly survive on its own. So taking it would be the best thing to do, yes?

"Y/n!" Owen's voice dragged you from your thoughts and you took the bag, closing the lid to conceal the egg. It was too late to change your mind now.

You met them inside the control room, where Zia embraced you and Franklin smiled. You were all back together again.

"What's that?" Franklin asked, gesturing toward the bag.

"Just a gun and essentials," you lied, patting it softly. He didn't question it, and you turned your attention to the window that displayed the caged dinosaurs below you. Zia explained that they were going to suffocate if they weren't released.

Owen and Claire went back and forth about whether or not they should be free, until Maisie slammed her hand down on the button. The large doors opened, and the creatures shoved to escape the gas. They were free.

You all turned to Maisie, and she only stood there, her gaze focused on the dinosaurs.

"They're like me," were her only words.

After that quick encounter, your group had to brush off Maisie's world-changing decision and travelled to the large front doors, where a pack of Velociraptors gathered before you.

There was five of them, and Owen and Blue approached each other. You brushed past Claire to slowly approach Foxtrot.

Your raptor stared at you as you and Owen begged them to stay with you, however they seemed to know they'd only end up in cages once more.

Your hand brushed Foxtrot's snout as he stepped forward, briefly pressing his forehead against yours. You wrapped your arms around him, and tears fell from your eyes. He pulled away after a moment to follow Blue, who had already turned to join their confused offspring at the treeline.

Once he joined them, they disappeared into the foliage.

Maisie came to our sides to comfort us, and the others slowly followed. You openly cried into Claire's shoulder, feeling your heart break once more.

How many times would life tear you away from your best friend? But the egg at your hip reminded you you had someone new to take care of. If possible, would it be able to join the ranks of the Velociraptor pack? Would you have to lose it, too?

Also, when did you become a dino mom?

You shook it off as Owen found a working vehicle, and you, once again, parted ways with Zia and Franklin. You sat in the back with Maisie leaning against your shoulder.

Dawn was breaking as Owen drove on a cliffside road, and pterosaurs flew by. It was the dawn of a new era, one of which dinosaur and man would walk together. No fences, no security, just pure nature.

You leaned your head back, closing your eyes. After all of that, your aching body really needed some Zach cuddles. How was he? You hadn't spoken to him in forever, was he okay? Was he freaking out? Probably.

What were you going to do after this? Zach would most likely want to head back to his parents to protect Gray and his family. Could this tear you apart? Or, what if, you lost him before you could even get home?

Maisie, sensing your anxiousness, reached for your hand. A sigh escaped you as you glanced around. You would make it. Hell, you survived two monsters and a bunch of prehistoric turkeys already.

And, if you were correct, that egg at your hip could serve as some advanced protection.
