The Day They Died

Why?

"What gem and what powers? Just leave me alone, I don't want to be apart of any of this"
My fake confidence, pretending to sound braver than I was. It was embarrassing.
He stands there glaring again. Man it was like he was staring into your soul.
"If you don't do what I ask we will have to take... certain measures"
He bares his teeth and started his approach. I try to backup again, doing a weird backward crawl since I couldn't stand. Why does this kind of strange thing always happen to me. Then I begin to hear something behind me similar to a stampede. We are in the middle of a small town so where would this be coming from. I turn and look behind me to see animals charging us. Honestly I'm not surprised anymore.
"Not you interfering Pali again"
He says sounding annoyed.
Pali? Are those the talking animal thingies? I sit up and just stare at the animals definitely surprised.
The animals stop around twenty feet away from us. There was about twenty if you took the time to count.
A beautiful stag with gorgeous antlers steps up and begins to to talk in a soothing voice.
"Lavellan, end this now it will never be yours. We will not back down and will fight you if necessary!"
A smirk spreads across his face.
"You know I was hoping you would say something like that that. I never turn down a fight"

He walks closer to the animals doing his little smirk. "The Zula aren't going to back down. We will find more and take them as our own. There is nothing any of you can do."
I can feel the horror set into my chest as his acid green eyes start glowing brighter then ever. A green smoke starts surrounding him and his figure begins to grows bigger and bigger, the fur hardening into what seems to be scales. Horns sprout all up his back and head along with a pair of what appears to be massive scaly wings. Now I've seen it all.
"Bitro! Get her to safety!" The stag says.
"Um of course sir"
The boyish voice of a rabbit says which then scurries towards me as the fight starts to unravel. Many of the animals, the "Pali" or something, change their form just as Lavellan, the now dragon, did before. But it was different. First off they didnt have any cool smoke. Second, they did not turn into a dragon like Lavellan did.
"Hurry follow me!"
I change my focus and see the rabbit running towards a ditch. Stopping midway to look at me again.
"Hurry!"
I slowly pick up myself up and try to follow as quickly as possible, limping all the while.
I drop in the ditch and watch the fight from safety though I gotta admit I couldn't really think straight.
An acid green flame starts shooting from Lavellans mouth all over the pavement. Many of the animals managed to jump to safety but two weren't so lucky. Their flesh seemed to melt away before my eyes. Even the pavement seemed to be effected and burned away.
"Why don't they just transform into a dragon like him?" Realizing I said that aloud I change my gaze towards the talking rabbit.
"We don't posses that kind of power. No Pali does, but don't worry we will take you to safety and everything will be ok"
A Pali? So the animals really are called that.

The fighting escalates as the the weird Pali animals pounce on him only to be swiped away by his massive claws.
"No one can defeat me. You will all be dead soon and then I will take her life and get that precise stone!"
Still fighting the deer begins talking again,
"You will never have it, we are going to take her with us and she will be your demise"
What does everyone want with me? I am not special?
Why me?
They are risking everything for me when I don't deserve it. I will just end up hurting them too.

Just like...

I suddenly feel a surge of courage and pick myself up, ignoring my injury, and walk towards the battle.
The elk noticing starts to speak
"Bitro I told yo-"
"I am not going anywhere with anyone. So stop risking your lives for something that doesnt matter!"
Thunder booms loud and lightning strikes right in the middle of the battle. All the Pali collapse to the floor as the power of the strike hits them.
Lavellan gets hit to and, obviously shocked, transforms back into his wolf form. Even though he was hit he seemed totally uninjured. Everyone lay there injured or knocked down by the blow. Lavellan turns to me, grinning.

  "So I was right, you do have it. Not only that, you are willing to kill everyone for your own goals. Your a killer"
His smile widens and he laughs uncontrollably. 
A killer? Its not like that. People aren't safe around me I just wanted... 

I couldn't breath and it felt like I was 50 feet under water. Did I really do that? An emptiness surrounds me like a black void. 

I look around to see what horrible things I caused. The animals were all scattered unconscious on the floor in front of me. Dread sets deep into my stomach.
Tears start to fill up my eyes and my mind goes blank.
Not again. 

Its all my fault.

I turn and run into the woods near the hospital, Lavellan cackling behind me.
