First Day

I walk out of the small apartment the other Pali have made for me, finally being able to actually  experience this strange world I have never known. Bitro left right after our short conversation last night. Still couldn't sleep and ended up staying up the rest of the night. I look  around to see the hustle and bustle of the Pali going throughout their morning. The fresh air and the world that surrounded me seemed so calm.

I walk some ways from the apartment and reach several stalls and tents. They seem to be selling nearly everything you could think off. Cakes, jewelry, fabrics, and even some of the weirdest things I couldn't recognize. It was busy and definitely overcrowded. Not my kind of place if I'm being honest but still a place you could tell everybody wanted to be. I sigh, half hesitantly and half in awe, and try to brush it off and I begin wandering aimlessly through the shops hoping to find someone who could help me find the training arena. But I could do with some food. Maybe I'll just happen to "accidentally" come across one of those amazing food stalls and "accidentally" forget about training.

I could feel every last of of my senses being used as I walked. There was so many colors, people, of course animals and don't get me started on the smells. You could almost taste it. It was a lot to take in almost heartwarming and a real place to call home.

Almost.

I stopped by a bread stall, it was almost like those warm loaves of pure perfection were calling to me. I look around for the stall owner but see nothing.

"Uh hello, is this bread for sale?"

A pig comes around from the back and just looks at me, expectentlly. I continue to stare at it not knowing what to do. With a small oink the pig transformed into a portly man.

"You wanted bread?"

Surprised I answer, "Yes please"

He sighs obviously annoyed,"That'll be one Geld"

I stare at him dumbfounded.

"Uh what"

He sighs again, "Look kid your obviously an outsider. Pali aren't to keen to humans and if your new so that means you must be a half. I am going to have to ask you to leave so I can actually continue getting customers"

"Uh sorry didnt mean to bother you"

I smile and quickly try to leave before bumping into a women sending her tumbling to the floor.

"Oh uh I am so so so sorry I uh... miss?"

She  gets up slowly, dusting off her clothes and looks at me with a smile.

"I understand these places can be a bit crowded sometimes"

I nod, "Yeah I guess "

She looks at me for a bit, eyeing me down, before speaking again. Talk about awkward silences.

"Your a half aren't you?"

She catches me off guard, they must really do not like new people.

"I uh well...." I pause, sighing, "Is it that hard to tell?"

She chuckles putting her hands on my shoulders.

"You just have that new look. I am one myself so I was new at one point too. One moment a normal life and then this craziness. It is a lot to take in, so I get it. We Halfs got to stick together you know " She glances at the bread stand where I was just at, then smiles.

"Here I'll get you some bread, its on me so don't worry. The money is pretty confusing anyways. This place really does have the best bread around take my word on it" She pushes past me to face the owner of the bread stall.

"I'll take two cinnamon swirl slices of bread. Here is two Geld, that is more than enough am I right?" She smiles at the bread man almost threateningly. Man she isn't someone to mess with.

"Miss as I told the kid here, I'd rather not serve Halfs" He says more annoyed.

The lady clears her throat and looks at him again, "I believe you heard me wrong. I will take two cinnamon swirl slices of bread. Now I  you don't understand people are just people but I do think you'll notice my authority over you and get us some bread like I asked"

The pig man stares at her confused. Suddenly realization washed over his face and he rushes behind the store for a minute before coming back with some bread in hand.

"Sorry Miss, sorry for the confusion"

He hands her the bread and takes the what I could only assume was money from her.

"Here you go, its not every day you find yourself to be a part shape shifting creature" She furrows her brow and continues, "That sounded cooler in my head."

I take the bread, laughing lightly, "Thanks for the bread and also not thinking I'm some crazy monster like that pig man did"

She laughs again looking down at the watch on her wrist. "Shoot I gotta get going, don't wanna be late. I'll see you around kid." She winks and runs off towards the crowd of animals and people, instantly disappearing.

I sigh, looking at the bread. To bad I am allergic to cinnamon I really wanted to try some of it. Still, the gesture was nice. I continue past the stalls and the crowds of people/animals and finally make it to the spot Bitro told me to meet him. Of course there sits Bitro waiting impatiently in his human form.

"Ve where were you we were supposed to be there ten minutes ago"

"Just got lost its fine, you want this?" I say point to the bread in my hand. His eyes light up before quickly going backing to being "angry".

"Don't think this gets you out of trouble but uh," His eyes dash between the bread and myself, "Can I still have the bread"

I laugh and hand him the bread before following him to the training area. He told me earlier that it was the best place to train but it was hidden from most of the others for certain reasons he couldn't talk about. We reach a wall covered with dirt and he begins tracing his hands all along it.

"Um... What are you doing?" I glance at him, definitely questioning if he really is sane.

He looks back at me and chuckles, "Trying to find the arena, remember?"

I stare at him. He really is an idiot. How is a wall supposed to help him with that. Just then his fingers seem to stop at a hard part of the dirt. He looks back at me and smiles his boyish smile.
