A dark hallway, the temperature drops. His breath is a cloud in the air, ice clings to his exposed hair. A foreboding feeling creeps into his mind, he can sense something watching him. As suddenly as it started the feeling disappears.

Down the hallway is a door and behind that door is the thing emiting the cold and bitter energy. He approached the door regardless, unaware of what was waiting for him. The apartment numbered 136 was on front of him now. Hesitantly the man reaches out to the door knob, the metal shockingly cold to the touch. His breath becomes a fog again as he turns the knob slowly, the loud click the only sign that the door is going to give way.

He pushes the door open, the hinges groaning loudly. The chill clings to him again, penetrating him to the bone. The apartment is to quiet, he listens for the sound of the person whom had his heart. He hears nothing. Usually she has loud cheery music playing, singing along to it loudly.

His heart turns to a solid lump of ice in his chest, chills running down his spine. He moves quicker to her bedroom, terrified of what he might find. The question of her safety ringing in his mind. He reaches her door, he tries to turn the knob to open it but finds it barred. He tries to call out to her but finds his voice has been stolen away.

Jamming his shoulder into the door, trying to force it open. He finds that his strength has also left his body. He clings to the door knob and tried to open it again and again. Finally a burst of desperation comes from within and he finds the strength to break the door down.

Frozen in place, his eyes take in the scene before him. A ghastly being floats over her, she lay lifeless in a pool of blood. Her once beautiful eyes stuck open in horror. As he tries to go to her, the being turns. It rushes at him, a terrible cold feeling shoots through his soul. He....

Sitting up gasping in bed, covered in a cold sweat. He looks to his side and silent tears of relief flow down his face, she's right there safe.
