Essie POV

My hands held the material covered ring.

The ring that I was given, is still wrapped and even in my recent 'freedom' I haven't opened it.
I was too scared, because in all honesty I was unsure about myself being worthy of it.

Putting it back in the draw, I walked to the mirror looking at my transformed self.

The dress was beautiful and it was It was rose gold.

As I felt the material is was soft and fitted me perfectly. Although I was still skinny, I had gained weight and my features had filled a bit.

The dress along with matching small heels were very fancy and at first when I recognised the brand, my heart fluttered at the price that it would of cost.

When the nurse came into the room to give me a check up early on, she offered to help me get ready.
As she brushed my hair, trimmed off the dead ends and put my first layer ever of makeup. I was very nervous, even stepping into my attire my hands grew shaky.

The nurse looked at me for awhile and knelt down and tapped me on the leg. Looking at her kind, soft features she gave me comfort. Emily was her name and when she first put me in front of the mirror, I was astonished.

For so long did I live in rags. It was like I was Cinderella and Emily transformed me in someone beautiful.

Walking down the stairs to the foyer, Emily steadied me as I nearly tripped on the heels.

"Essie, you know you can see me if you like. I would love to spend time with you, I know you have been through a lot and I understand what that is like to don't hesitate to talk to me"

As she paused at the last set of stairs she stopped, "This is where I go and don't worry you look beautiful sweetie"
As she came in she hugged me. Her embrace warm and cuddly, I long missed a motherly figure. As I drifted from her I said thankyou and turned to walk down the stairs.

Sebastian, Patrick, Doug and a few other men were at the bottom of the stair case, all talking amongst themselves, the suddenly looked up to me.

As my eyes wondered at them all staring at me with gaping mouths, uneasiness flooded me and reaching the bottom step.

I tripped.

Yep I tripped on the last step due to the heels.

But as I closed my eyes someone caught me. I stilled and open my eyes as Sebastian placed me on my feet. "Missy you better be careful" His eyes wondered down my dress, when Patrick came up to me.

"GURL you look amazing, beautiful and sexxxyyyy! Naww my little sis is growing up." In awe, he turned to Sebastian and smirked, "Are you sure you want to let her go Sebastian"

Patrick wiggled his eyebrows while Doug hit him on the back of the head.

I raised a brow "Ugh what?"

Sebastian spoke up immediately "Come on! Let's go don't want to be late"

As we got into the car, myself, Patrick, Doug and Sebastian hopped into the limo.

For most of the trip, Doug briefed me on the ball advising me what to do and what not to do.

"So Essie this event is...."

I sighed "Doug, I know about it being a gang ball. I know to give respect and talk in an orderly manner, never look someone in the eyes challengingly and if conversation occurs keep conversational neutral and speak when spoken to."

The guys gaped. "Guys you look like a fish that just got fished from the ocean. I know rules and regulations and this sort of thing and lets just say I was a very observant 6yr old and you guys being a gang, yeah the intruder let that one slip."

Doug hummed and clapped his hands together "Well may the ball begin"

As we drove, big gates appeared and going up the driveway, a huge mansion appeared.

Sebastian cleared his throat and shifted to me holding a necklace. "Here put this on"

The simple chain had a small pendent and as I clasped it on it sat lowly on my chest.

Stopping in front of the house and getting out, the mansion was huge and even bigger than Sebastian's gang.
Smoothing down my dress, I hand went over a bump and sighing in relief the ring was hidden in the secret pocket. I put it in my dress at the last minute before I left the room, I couldn't help it I felt safe with it on me, reminding me of the good in the world.

As Sebastian offered his arm I looped mine through his.

Turning my head the amount of people here was crazy. Even the cars that were parked was spectacular. A red car caught my eye before Sebastian pulled my up the path to the mansion and looking back it was gone.

As Sebastian's  men and I entered the house, extravagant is the word I would use. Marble was everywhere in the ballroom as well as gold features. Walking down the stair case heads turned towards us, but as we reached end of the stairs people resumed with their chatter.
