The day she was stolen was the worst day in my life.

I was in a meeting and Dominic had to say behind for extra ten minutes.

And when he left I was not expecting anything out of the usual.

"She's gone, She's gone!" My phone clattered to the floor.

Why would? How?

Guilt shame and heartbreak tore through me

"Boss!"

And when I picked it up "You know what to do, get intel, get people and lets get this on the down low"

Dominic on the other hand was shocked, he didn't even properly know the kid, but her being missing or kidnapped, had the heart racing.

Xavier could tell this was no random and decided to keep it down. If word got out that I had a weakness over a girl, war would occur. He thought and he didn't want that.

Every street, nook and cranny had been looked at and we couldn't find her.

Her school had given us barely any information and we finally found her identity.

The girl's name was Essie Rose.

Essie Rose...

And when we went up to the apartment they lived in everything was gone. It was cleared out and just like Essie it seemed they all just vanished into thin air.

"Boss we found something!" One of my men called and in his arms a single box.

"Move it and put it in the car i'll handle it" I know what was in it but it was important enough to be left behind.

In the car we rode in Dominics and the same one he last saw her in. We were both silent.

But I needed to know something.

"Dominic, we kill people for a living and why are we going after Essie"

Dominic sighed, "She... I don't know man, I feel like I've just lost a sister my rock and I have only spoken to her once and I suppose every time seeing her all independent when walking to school, I don't know man, I really don't"

I nodded, It wasn't just me.

"WHat 'bout you?"

I cocked my head to the side, "I don't know man, it like she got me more than anyone else, she's different and not any average person and you know what I felt like I could wait for her, its like a connection, if that sound cheezy but I would do anything for... Essie and now she's gone.

The sunset and the streetlights came one, one by one they lit the way.

Opening the box shortly after we came home, the box was solid and it was Essie's.

And in it were her things.

Toys of dolls and legos.

Books that were easy of high schooling grades

Stationary

And then a drawing book.

The most colour I have seen in my life was in that book and her drawing were phenomenal for someone so small: there were animals, scenery's and doodling. Flicking through them I smiled at each one imagining her drawing in her bedroom.
