Waking before the sun, Nikita stretched and unpacked a few boxes before showering and changing into her school uniform. She liked the dark teal skirt and the dark teal accents on the pale dusty grey jacket but as a rule she despised uniforms, they were always uncomfortable and felt restricting. She swiped one of the muffins Ms. Lee had given her the day before and greedily stuffed the whole thing in her mouth, though regretted it instantly as it was way too much muffin and she nearly choked to death. After gulping down a bunch of water to help dissolve some of the muffin to escape death, she straightened herself up, dusted the crumbs off her jacket and slipped out of her apartment just as Craven was leaving his apartment.
He was dressed in dark colors, black pants, a dark grey tee and the same black jacket he'd worn the night before. His obsidian eyes flicked in her direction and he offered her a smile, "Good morning."
"Good Morning." She smiled as she followed him to the stairs.
"It's a bit early, do you have an extracurricular activity or something?" He asked her curiously as he glanced down at his mobile device. "I can give you a lift to the station, it's on my way."
"Oh no. That's okay I'm not going to the station. I'm walking to school."
Craven nearly missed his step at this. Nikita acted quickly catching him by the shoulder keeping him from falling through the wide gap in the steps. "You're walking?!"
"I don't like transportation." Nikita admitted causing him to chuckle.
"Alright, fine, let's at least exchange mobile numbers so you can let me know if you ever need a lift or something sometime if the weather is bad."
"Ah...I don't have a mobile-."
"You're a teenager." He shot at her skeptically.
Nikita shrugged, "I'm not big on technology."
Craven shook his head. "I'll ask Cindy to get you one."
Nikita thought back to the card, Cindy was the tenant in apartment 9. "Ah, no, that's okay, I don't want to be a-."
Craven lightly flicked her on the forehead, "Don't argue with adults." He smiled as she rubbed the small red spot that appeared on her forehead with a grimace.
"Sorry."
Craven chuckled. "Have a good day at school." He waved goodbye before getting into an older model black convertible.
Nikita smiled to herself as she made her way to school. As she approached the small grocery store a block away from the apartment, she noticed the shopkeeper struggling with a big bulky display sign, trying to drag it onto the sidewalk. Using the strength of the tiger, she easily managed to pick up the display.
"Where would you like it?" She asked the stunned shopkeeper, a man in his early thirties with scruffy black hair, a patchy beard and warm caramel eyes. He pointed to the location he wanted the bulky display.
"Thanks." The man smiled, "Hey, that's a UA uniform isn't it?" he didn't wait for her to respond, "Wait here a moment." He ducked back into the store before returning a moment later with a package of dried fish snacks.
Nikita's eyes widened. They were so tasty!
"Here, had a hunch you might like these. As thanks for the help." He smiled.
"Are you sure?" Nikita tried to keep from salivating.
He extended the bag to her with a smile. "Take 'em. Thanks again kid."
Nikita happily accepted. "Thanks!" She continued on her way with a skip in her step as she opened the bag of fish snacks. Popping the first fish into her mouth, she couldn't help but sigh in contentment as it nearly melted in her mouth.
