Operation Cobra
Why’d I do it? I wanted to help my best friend.
Do I regret it?
Yes.
“We are going to get in so much trouble. This has to be the worst hiding spot ever,” I whispered harshly shoving Nate to the side.
We’re going to end up in jail.
I don’t know. Can you go to jail for breaking into a school once attended because of some diary? Does that sound like reasonable charges to press? I can’t afford to go to jail though. My dad will just leave me in there as a lesson.
Currently, ‘Operation Cobra’ was in play but we kind of misjudged the staff that was going to be in the school. Siri and Ethan were exactly 5 doors away from our location on the opposite side of the hall; the chemistry lab which they were lucky was open. Nate and I stood in an awkward position, fronts touching, because of the cluster of crap that surrounded us in the janitor’s closet. Along with the janitor was the custodian; a man who wasn’t very fond of us. On senior prank day, we basically trashed the school and unfortunately Jerry had to pay. He and Tom, our janitor, were forced to have the school cleaned spotless and repair all damages by the end of the day. I remember I couldn’t breathe from the pain in my stomach once Tom came out of the bathrooms.
Trust me; you don’t want to know what went down in there.
And to make matters worse, our principal Mr. Smith arrived to school grounds just a while ago.
“This is your entire fault. I should have just backed out,” I shook my head trying to sooth my brain by rubbing my temples.
We got here an hour ago. Everything was swell up to the point where Siri started gazing at the Legacy Glass Case which held past year pep rally photos. She was going on and on about how one of her curls was trashed but no one advised her. She also started nagging about how Jeremy, her now ex-boyfriend, was standing close besides her. She dumped him minutes after the group photo shoot from the pep rally. Her reason is because he cheated on her with a girl of lesser value and she didn’t respect that.
“At least cheat on me with someone worth cheating on,” she had said rolling her eyes.
Neither one of us noticed our upcoming situation.
At the last minute Nate and Ethan had pulled us apart and headed in complete opposite directions. Jerry, the custodian, had been walking down the exact same hall dragging bags of trash with him. Next thing I know, I’m forced into the janitor’s closet and shoved up against the wall with little breath and a very sweaty Nate close by.
Which eventually brings us to right now.
Nate had begun massaging my shoulders. I tensed up at the touch but soon relaxed into his hands as they worked their magic. I sighed and looked up at him. The bit of hair he had on his head was moist from his sweating and it stuck to his forehead. He smiled when our eyes met and chuckled. My hand made contact with his chest and he flinched.
“Ow, what’s that for?”
“You have no right to even speak now. No sounds should be coming from your mouth.”
“Yes, Sir,” he joked saluting me in the process.
After a minute, the hair that seemed glued to his forehead started to piss me off so I ran a hand straight through his hair forcing the strands back which, to my pleasure, stayed put. The phone in my pocket started to ring but because of the silence it made the ringtone seem obnoxiously loud. I quickly yanked my phone out of my back jean pocket and answered it.
