Beach Party

The sea shore was calming. The constant waves crashing against the rocks sent a shiver down my spine as the ocean breeze picked up. I felt relaxed here. It was my favorite place to come too. In a week’s time I’ll be an official graduate of Lambert High and I was sort of disappointed. The year as I knew it flew by and I didn’t have time to enjoy it. Finals were a struggle but once I was done I felt a bit sad. Soon I’ll be off to college half way around the world and I won’t be seeing my best friends anymore.

“Stop thinking too much,” Ethan said softly as he placed his arm around my shoulder.

Ethan Rodriguez, my high school sweetheart. He was known as Lambert High’s school president. Not only has he founded the school’s government system but he ran it for the last 4 years he’s been attending Lambert. I’ll miss him the most especially since he’ll be attending Harvard for law school. That’s eight long years I’m not ready to face.

“You know,” I said with the same soft sweet tone he used on me, “I still remember the first time we met.”

I turned to face him a bit leaning closer into his chest. His eyebrow rose a bit at what I just said. I wrapped both arms around his waist and kept my eyes on the waves that continuously crashed into the boulders we were currently standing on.

“You do?”

“Yeah,” I said taking a deep sigh before continuing. “It was freshmen year. I was very nervous and self-conscious about what everyone would think about me. I remember holding onto my books for dear life.”

“Yeah those textbooks were too much for your weight,” he interrupted.

I chuckled but then gave him a little nudge telling him to let me finish. He nodded and I went on.

“Anyways, I was walking down the hall trying to find my locker. I had the schedule in my mouth and my lock in my hand. Someone bumped into me with such a force that it knocked all the books out of my hand. I looked around for the culprit but next thing I know the floor suddenly came closer and closer to my face and I ended up kissing the floor. At that moment, Kat was still a bitch so her and her friends were laughing at me making a scene. I was so embarrassed,” I said shaking my head remembering that awful day.

It wasn’t one of my best days.

“Then your knight and shiny armor came and helped you up,” he added and that made us both laugh.

“Biggest mistake ever because Katherine taunted me for weeks after that especially when she found out we began to hangout so much.”

Katherine Debreu was the biggest complicated human being I have ever met. She is what I call the ideal cocky cheerleader and she always had popularity but she desires fame. She had a way of doing things her way that were never necessary the right way. I’ll just say if it’s not her way, it’s the wrong way. She recently received an acceptance letter for UCONN also known as the University of Connecticut. Her major was currently undecided.

“She was always the bipolar kind though. She dumped me because she overheard me talking about how much I liked you and that I wanted to take you the winter ball that year.”

I blushed at his little comment before saying, “You talked about me to your friends?”

He shrugged his shoulders casually. “Only to Damon though. He knew I had a little thing for you and he pulled it out of me. But it was only because he had a thing for Kat and he wanted her to himself.”

I smiled at the thought of Damon persuading Ethan into asking me out. Of course he was only doing it for his own needs. To be honest I feel like Damon and Kat were both meant for each other. They were literally the same being but in 2 different bodies and posing as 2 different genders. It was kind of scary.
