"Is that all hun?"
"Yes ma'am." Sage gave the older woman a small smile before she returned to the front desk.
Surround by the smell of books and the noise you can only find in a library, Sage scooted up to the computer the librarian had logged into for him.
He was skipping lunch to be here. Or, he was using this as an excuse to skip lunch. He felt only slightly guilty for leaving Brandon to sit alone but Sage was sure he could find someone else to sit with. Like his date.
Sage shook his head and focused on the computer. He wasn't supposed to be upset about that. He was the one that pushed Brandon to go anyways. So as a way not to be even remotely upset, Sage wasn't going to think about it at all. Well, he was trying not to.
He wasn't really sure what he wanted to do on the computer and he didn't really know how to use it like Elias did. The only times he'd used a computer was doing assignments for school and he could always watch what the kid beside him was doing if he got lost. Scanning the screen, Sage clicked on the 'e' thingy. He knew that opened the internet search thing.
Moving his lips from side to side, Sage looked down at the keyboard and slowly typed out a question with one finger. When that was finished he pressed enter and watched it load up.
Opening a page in a new tab, he scanned over the words before exiting the page and opening another. It was going as well as it did when he got Elias to look up things for him. Meaning he wasn't getting any answers to his questions.
Only two things he searched gave him answers he could agree with. Apparently it was completely normal for young kids to have imaginary friends and some physiologist even claimed that it helped improve social skills and a child's imagination.
That's what Sage was going to believe. Marlo had an imaginary friend. It made sense. He was lonely and so he made someone up to be there for him.
As for Sage, he'd experienced sleep paralysis. Other people's experiences he'd read were similar to his, some even scarier. Lack of sleep or stress could of caused it, both of which Sage was familiar with. One thing Sage knew was that he didn't want to experience it again. Ever.
Sage looked up a few other things that didn't help until the bell rang. He logged out of the computer like the librarian had told him to and grabbed his backpack from off the floor.
The halls weren't really crowded because it was just everyone from first lunch going to their third period classes. Stopping by his locker, Sage struggling with the combination before getting it unlocked.
Sighing, Sage opened his locker for a folded piece of notebook paper to flutter to the ground.
He bent over to pick it up, only to meet amber eyes when he straightened up.
Panicking only a little, Sage slammed his locker shut and tried to rush to class. It wasn't very smart of him, seeing as they shared the same class and were going in the same direction.
A hand wrapped around Sage's wrist and he was pulled back and pressed against the lockers. Large arms blocked him in and those amber eyes seemed to darken to smoldering embers.
Sage swallowed and pressed back against the lockers, trying to suppress the want to arch against the bigger boy. His eyes darted around to see others watching them curiously.
"Mind telling me why you've been avoiding me?" Brandon growled, making Sage shiver.
"I-I...What?"
"You heard me."
Sage inhaled, Brandon's scent surrounding him. Letting his head fall back against the locker, Sage blinked up at Brandon. His mind had gone blank, his ability to form thoughts that weren't associated with Brandon's closeness proven impossible.
