As the bell rang to signal the end of another dreary Monday at school, I bolted out of the gates, eager to reunite with my friends and dive into our usual afternoon escapades. The clock struck 3:30, and there we were, engrossed in a game of rope, with the scorching sun beating down upon us relentlessly. Lina, as always, seemed to possess an uncanny knack for dominating the game, followed closely by her sister Alice, both of them effortlessly reigning as the queens of the rope. Meanwhile, I found myself growing increasingly weary of the repetitive game, realizing that victory was an elusive dream for me.

However, our mundane afternoon took an unexpected turn when our attention was suddenly drawn to a colossal bus pulling into the station nearby, dwarfing everything in its vicinity. Its sheer size was enough to accommodate the entire population of our small town. As we watched in awe, a sleek official car whizzed past us, leaving us curious and intrigued.

Being of the same age, we never bothered with formal goodbyes, knowing that our plans would invariably bring us back together. There was an innocence in our camaraderie, a belief in the endless possibilities that lay ahead.

After what felt like an eternity, we reconvened at our usual spot, our hearts pounding with anticipation. Ursula, always fashionably late, finally made her grand entrance, and we greeted her with exuberance, bouncing around with excitement. Little did we know, our mundane routine was about to be shattered by an unforeseen twist of fate.

Lina, usually the epitome of strength and laughter, now stood on the sidelines, tears streaming down her cheeks. None of us had ever fathomed that this day would arrive, that our cherished bond could be shattered so suddenly. With each reunion on that familiar road, we had rejoiced in our enduring friendship, believing that nothing could ever tear us apart. But now, reality had dealt us a cruel blow. The day had come to an abrupt end, leaving us speechless and helpless in its wake. "She is gone" , and the painful truth of our mortality sank in.

In stunned silence, we remained rooted to the spot, grappling with the harshness of this newfound reality. It was a moment frozen in time, our emotions raw and unfiltered. As the realization of our loss settled in, one by one, we rose to our feet and began the solemn journey back home, unable to contain the flood of tears that flowed freely. Shock enveloped us as we stumbled through the streets, each step a painful reminder of what we had lost.

My mother's words echoed in my mind as I trudged along, her voice a stark reminder of the fragility of life. The bus, she had said, returned like clockwork, its arrival as certain as the rising sun. But what lay beyond its doors remained a mystery, a realm untouched by those who had crossed over. And as we grappled with the harsh reality of our friend's absence, we were painfully aware that none of us were immune to the whims of fate. In the face of such uncertainty, all we could do was cling to each other, finding solace in the fragile bonds that held us together.
