I could feel my fur standing on end when I ran into the nursery with the stick Mint gave me. Once I plummeted in the stench of blood hit my nose. I saw four shapes in the shadows, one slumped down on the floor barely moving. Shivers ran through my body every paw-step I took toward them.I heard the queen breathing hard with Oak saying encouraging words.

" Here is the stick Mint got for you Oak"

" Thank you, Feather" Oak meowed

I could see she was exhausted just as much as Violet. She grabbed the stick from my paws and ordered Violet

"Put this in your mouth and when you want to push don't"

Violet did what she was told and didn't push. She did this over and over again until Oak meowed her to push. This was a horrifying moment this either could work or it won't work and both the queen and kits would die. I waited for her to push and when she did she pushed hard and out came a sack with a kit in it. Fern picked it up and nipped it open, I let out a sigh of relief and smiled. The second kit that came out but wasn't breathing! Fern quickly started pumping its chest in smooth rhythms. It finally coughed up so clear spit and starting mewling for milk. "Two toms," Minnow announced pride glowing in his eyes. The two kittens were put beside their mother and started suckleing. Purring Violet licked each one of them on the head.

" What should we name them" Violet whispered, Minnow put his tail on the little black kit with white ear tips and a tiny speck of white on his back "Speck." Violet put her other tail on the silver tom with a four little white paws "Pebble" I saw pride in both of the parent's eyes as Violet curled up with her kits falling asleep. Just when we were about to leave Pepper came rushing in with fear lit in his eyes. Words were stuck in my throat when I remembered Mints bloody Stained fur.

" what's the problem?" I meowed slowly

" It's Mint she stopped breathing!" he meowed frantically

Oak got straight up from her spot

" show me where she is Pepper" she ordered

Once Pepper started to run where she was I followed with a heavy weight in my heart. I ran out of the nursery to see right in front of paws, Mint's body laying there like a limp piece of prey! I carefully touched my nose to her fur it was getting cold.
