The day started like any other normal day; the birds chirping, the sun shining, and the loud obnoxious noise that is coming from my alarm clock. I groaned, wishing that I have ten more minutes to sleep in. After I rolled out of bed, I did a zombie-like walk towards my bathroom. I look in the mirror to see a monster looking back, nevermind it is just me. I noticed that my dark brown hair was in a huge bird’s nest, a sliver of drool running down my mouth, my pale skin showing that I need to desperately tan, and bags under my sleepy green eyes. Next, I rushed to get in and out of the shower. Afterwards, I went into my closet to put on my favorite Panic! At the Disco t-shirt with a dark blue skinny jeans and an old pair of black converse. Then I went back into the bathroom again to lightly put makeup on, brush out my hair since it is naturally straight, and I put on my lucky charm necklace that my parents gave me for my birthday that has a small silver shooting star pendent. After I have deemed myself presentable, I quickly ran to the kitchen, surprised that I didn't fall because of my clumsiness. I entered the kitchen to be attacked by the smell of my most favorite breakfast food cooking, pancakes with the side of bacon. The aroma was so amazing, I was internally drooling.
My mom chuckled at me while she is placing the finished pancakes on a plate with the bacon. “Rose would you please bring these to the table and bring your father a cup of coffee?,” Mom said when she is cleaning the kitchen.
“Sure Mom!,” I said in a chipper voice. Balancing the plate in one hand and holding the coffee mug in the other, I heading towards the dining table. I set the plate in the middle of the table and the coffee mug in the other. “Morning Dad!” I say to him as I am getting my breakfast.
Dad sets down his daily newspaper and says “Morning honey.”
“Anything good in the newspaper?,” I say with a mouthful of pancakes. He chuckles and says “Just people making stupid mistakes.”
“Of course,” I replied back. Then a car honked outside a few times telling me that was Sophie here to pick me up.
"Bye Mom and Dad, see you later! Thank you for the pancakes!” I say as I am leaving out the front door.“Have a nice day!” they both say.
I open the door to my bestfriend’s black convertible with the roof down.“Heeeeyyyy bestie! Did you hear about the new movie with Chris Pratt in it? OMG he is sooo hot!,” exclaimed Sophie as she is pulling out of the driveway on the course to school.
“Of course I would know, you did send me a link of the trailer. You are one big Prattaholic Soph,” I said teasingly.
“So? He’s a major hunk,” she said as she winked at me. Sophie turned on the radio and our favorite song, Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake came on and we both danced to the song all the way to school. She parked the car in an empty space by the entrance of the school. We both exit Soph’s ‘baby,’ as she likes to call it, and went inside of the eight hours of boredom. As we walk in, the sound of desperation, heartbreak, misery, and love was in the air. This can only mean one thing…….it’s Valentine’s Day
