I snapped out of my thoughts as the warning bell rung. I shoved the rose and note at the bottom of my locker then I grabbed my binder and shut my locker. I turned around to look at Sophie and said, “You ready to go to first period?”
“When am I ever ready to go to algebra in the morning and are you alright?,” Sophie asked with concern laced in her voice.
“Yea, I’m fine. Just curious of who could have sent me the flower,” I smiled. We walked into our next class thinking out loud to each other of which boy could it be. I sat in my normal spot by the window, while Sophie had to sit in the back of the room. A few seconds later, a red note was dropped on my desk. I looked around to see who might have put down the note. After finding that no one looked suspicious, I opened the note and read to myself, “I don’t believe in Angels but I believe in Angles, and your ‘Acute’ one.” I looked to the person sitting next to me and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to me with amusement written on his face, “What do you want? Oh I know, you want me to be your Valentine. It's alright you know, it’s hard not to fall in love with me.”
I cringed because Josh, the one of the ‘hottest’ guys at school, is the top player and womanizer. “No, I’ll pass up your offer. But I do want to know if you have seen the person that dropped this note on my desk.”
“Why as a matter of fact I did, but first can I have your number?,” said Josh winking at me.Since I wanted to know who gave me the note so bad, I jotted down a number. What he doesn’t know is that I’m giving him a bogus number. “Here, now tell me. Who dropped the note?,” I say as I am having him the fake phone number.
“There was a guy that walked near your desk and then he walked back out before I had a good look at him. As fun as it is to talk to you, I really need to pay attention to the teacher,” Josh said winking at me for the last time and he turned around to face the front. As I faced the front, I rolled my eyes of how idiotic Josh really is. Finally the bell rang and I gathered my belongings so I can walk out with Sophie. We bit each other a short good-bye and that we will meet each other at my locker after school as we head to our next class. The day went by faster than I thought, I’m pretty sure that I won’t remember half what I have learned today. Then I went to meet Soph at my locker went school was over.
“Did you finally find out who your secret admirer is?,” teased Soph
“No, but I did receive more cheesy pick-up lines and notes from who ever they are,” I groaned while showing her the notes.
She grabbed one and bursted out with laughter, “Are you google, because you are everything I’m searching for? Do you happen to have a Band-Aid, I scraped my knee falling for you. If you were a vegetable, you’d be a cutecumber. Who ever came up with these are genius.
“This isn’t funny! There even some about stuff I like such as, ‘I know we’re not in Professor Flitwick’s class, but you are still charming.’ It’s soo creepy that they know what I like,” I shuttered. I turn to open my locker, hopefully for the last time today, to see yet another note but this time there is no flower and the note is purple. I read it out loud, “If you want to know who I am, then meet me at the library at 4 p.m. Please come alone and sit at an excluded table, but don’t think this is a made up fable.”
“Ok, I admit that is a bit creepy. So, are you going to meet your secret admirer?” Sophie asked quizzingly.
“I don’t know if this is a good idea or not Soph,” I said nervously. I ,of course, was taught by my parents to never talk to strangers and all those lessons as a kid, but I wanted to know so badly who, all of a sudden, would show interest in me and how he came up with such amazing pick-up lines. (Sarcasm detected)
¨Oh come on Rose! This is like the perfect love story!¨, Sophie started to stare off into the distance like an actor reciting a monologue. ¨It´s Valentine´s Day, the most romantic day in history. A girl comes to school, a normal day, and she has a secret admirer.- Oh, Rose! This is just perfect!¨
It was pretty amazing that someone was showing interest in me. I´m not exactly the perfect type of girl as you've seen. I was nervous to find out who my admirer was, but I desperately wanted to know.
¨I think I´m going to meet him!¨ I told Soph as we walked with each other to the library.
¨I´ll wait outside just in case, okay?¨ Soph told me right as we arrived at the library´s double doors.
