The4seasons- well it's when we The United States signed the Declaration of Indapendence on July 4th, 1776. This meant we were going to separate from Great Britain and form our own country. Also the thirteen colonies were already into the Revolutionary War for a year.
Yellowoctopuses40- who are the thirteen colonies?
The4seasons- The thirteen original states. New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.
Yellowoctopuses40- ok ok, but why did we go to war with you?
The4seasons- your king, King George III and the British began to tax Americans for everything. You guys had a stamp act of 1775 that made us pay money to England for stamps. They were on everything. Then there was a bunch of other tax laws, but the most famous one was the Boston Tea Party. We were so angry that money and tex went up for tea, we threw tons of boxes of teas over the Boston Harbor in Boston, Massachusetts.
But the reason why we went to war was because of taxes.
