Gone

The Follow On

**Hunter's POV**

I rush out of my seat, I can't let  my existence ruin my parents, although I have never met my father before, I feel some connection to him, after all we are related. I rush out the front door, damn he walks fast. 

I see him at the end of the driveway, just sitting there with his knees pressed against his chest. I take a deep breath. This will be the first time I ever have a conversation with my father with him being well aware that I am his son, fuck I'm nervous. 

I walk up to him, I know he can hear my footsteps because he has raised his head slightly. 

" Dad, or George I don't know what to call you but you can't just leave like that, mum doesn't know what to do without you, that's why she didn't tell you about me she was afraid to loose you. Look mum doesn't know this but I knew Lily and Adam. Mum didn't want her to know about me because she thought that she would tell you. I met her last year, I knew it was her because she looked just like mum, that was the first time I saw you in person as well. You dropped her off at the park to see Adam. I was by the pond feeding the ducks." 

I take a deep breath, it feels good to get this off my chest, I look at George, he is staring at me with sadness in his eyes. I continue. 

" I couldn't believe it you guys were so close to me but yet so far away. I knew that I couldn't tell you, because I promised mum, but I thought because Lily and I were siblings I could trust her to keep our secret from you. I walked up to her and Adam, they were also feeding the ducks at this point. I walked up to her and asked if it was her, if she was Lily.

I remember how confused she looked, she had no idea who I was and that sort of hurt. I remember almost walking away, wanting to tell her that I made a mistake but I couldn't. 

I told her and Adam to come and sit down and I would explain everything. So they did very cautiously. We sat down together and we started talking, I told her about mum and where I was living and she quizzed me with family knowledge, like the way that Ma like to drink her tea and which golf club is Pa's favourite. 

After that she knew that I couldn't be lying. She started to cry and gave me a hug. It was the first time i got to hug my sister and it is still one of the only things I can think of since this morning, just seeing her for the first time. 

We met up with each other after that on numerous occasions, Adam, her and myself, we became good friends. I had no idea she felt this way. But I am here now and I will do everything I can to support you and mum, if you'll let me. Dad."

I pause and look to the ground, I hear shuffling then I get engulfed so hard into my fathers embrace I can barely breathe. I cry for the first time over my family, for my father and for Lily, she would be so happy that we are together now. I know that I mustn't look like much of a son, with my piercings and my bright purple hair and explicit clothing, but i can't help it it's who I am. 

Dad lets go of me and he places his hands on my shoulders. 

"Well Hunter, today must be your lucky day. I've always wished for a son.Although we might have to talk about your hair" he jokes at me and we go back inside to accompany mum.
