Chapter Three

Edward's POV

I could never get myself to stop thinking about Bella, I wanted to hold her in my arms and kiss her without her fearing me. Bella was the inspiration of the latest music I composed, I had titled it Bella's Lullaby. I had hummed it to her for two nights in a row now, while Bella had been sleeping. I loved holding her in my arms while she slept, but I had trouble controlling my thought of just running my hands over her heavenly body. I had trouble controlling something else as well, I had to think of Tanya to keep myself from getting excited or aroused. The warmth of her body was another thing I loved about her, it was such a contrast to the coldness of my own body. I would talk to Bella in her sleep, I also loved to watch her sleep because I found it so peaceful.

All of a sudden Alice was having a vision, I watched everything that was going on in her mind. Bella was trying to hang herself and it was happening right now, I took off running at my full speed out of the house. I couldn't let my Bella die, I just wouldn't let it happen. I wanted time to get to know Bella, I couldn't lose my mate – the one I love. I ran through the forest as fast as I could and ended up at the house within ten seconds, I didn't waste time jumping onto her balcony. When I saw Bella hanging by her neck I screamed, “Bella!” She was already limp and not breathing, she was already dead because even her heart wasn't beating.

I quickly got into to action and snatched the scissors off her desk, then I hoisted her onto my shoulder to keep the rope pulling on her neck. I quickly cut the rope and placed Bella on the floor, I removed the rest of the rope from her neck and began giving her CPR. I prayed her heart would start beating again and she would start breathing, I don't know how I would be able to cope with losing her. I kept focused on Bella when her father appeared in her room, he froze and stared at her lifeless body. He mumbled under his breath, “Why did you have to do this, Bella?” I pressed my lips onto hers and breathed air into her mouth, which caused her chest to rise and her eyes snapped open. I let out a sign in relief, my Bella was alive again.

A few seconds later she yelled at me, “Why did you have to save me?! I wanted to die!” I told her, “I won't let that happen, you can't die.” She yelled as she stood up, “Why not?!” I couldn't keep the words slipping from my mouth as I yelled at her, “Because I love you!” I uttered a profanity under my breath, I hadn't planned on telling her until she got to know me better. She asked stunned, “You love me?” I replied in a soft voice, “Yes, I do.” Bella seized the moment to run to the window and jumped out, before I could stop her she jumped off her balcony. I was just a fraction of a second too late and her body crashed to the ground with a loud crunch. I looked back over at Charlie who had tears in his eyes, I told him, “I'm so sorry.”

I suddenly I looked back in Bella's direction as she screamed in frustration, “Can't I die at all?!” I watched in amazement as she got off the ground and didn't have a single scratch on her, but cement beneath her had been crushed and that had been the source of the loud crunching sound. I jumped off the balcony and landed beside her, I told her, “Even god won't let you die today.” I grabbed her by her arm and lead her inside the house, I wanted to make sure she wouldn't make another attempt on her life again. Charlie made his way over to us and said to Bella, “Don't you ever do that again, I do not want to lose my only daughter.” She hung her head in shame and couldn't look him in the face, he was beyond furious with her and I couldn't blame him because I was furious with her too. I wanted her to live at least for her parents sake, even if she didn't care about me. There would be no way in hell I would let Bella die, she was needed more than she realized in this world.

We followed Charlie into the living room and I held my breath as I saw Billy Black and his son Jacob, my family didn't get along with them and the only reason their was some kind of peace was because of the treaty. He asked, “What are you doing here?” I answered, “Saving a life.” Bella mumbled under her breath, “Stupid Alice, can't keep her visions to herself.” She pulled away from my grasp and took a seat on the couch across from the Black's, she looked at me as if she expected me to sit next to her. As much as I wanted to have some distance between me and the Blacks I wanted to be next to Bella, so I approached her and sat down next to her. Billy Black glared at me, but I just ignored him and stared at the beautiful sight beside me. I just couldn't keep my eyes off of her, I wanted to kiss those beautiful pink lips of hers.
