Four years since my last Wattpad post......not that anyone missed me and since I reciprocated that feeling, apparently I forgot my credentials as well. As I read through the old writings, a trickle of a smile passed.
But anyways, it'd be better to be on track and on the lines of the title.....
A 'pre' note - The following is just one of many 2:00 am thoughts when the mind is subconscious and the visions are vivid. It is fiction to such an extent that the thinker of these musings, that is, I myself, cannot imagine them to be true. And yet, I find them interesting enough to put them into words. Here goes......
Since more then a decade, the questions of the beginnings of existence and life intrigued me. It is but natural that many of my subconscious thoughts should be on that basis. The idea of superior beings before us was something unacceptable by this twenty-first century seasoned mind of mine. For my mind, the only way where the graph was going up was the future; rich with technology as the culture, and prosperity as a synonym of ubiquitousness.
A century back, there were unbelievable fictions for the then-minds with unimaginable feats like going around the world in 80 days. There was another work of fiction; the writer of which I cannot recall; which spoke about individuals having their personal telephones, and since the writer wasn't sure about how near a future his fictional narrative was, he ended it with a note that it was definitely impossible because it would 'eat up the beauty of waiting for someone you missed', something of that sort.
In today's world, someone or the other is constantly developing new technologies even as you read this write-up. One of these new technologies is AI, the stuff that is the brain of a new set of human-like robots and not-yet-commercialised voice interfaces. And to think that they are so similar to actual humans in communication that if you get a call from an AI voice interface without knowing previously, you will definitely not understand it to be so.
But this human-touch in non living machines has raised the eyebrows of many critics. And rightly so.... The upcoming generations might be growing up with metal and wires as their friends instead of humans. Not that I am against such clever technologies, but this was one concern I couldn't think a way out of.
And this, dear reader, is where my spiritual as well as future concerning speculations were stirred. Imagine a century or two from today......when AI technology and further advanced human-like technologies are readily accepted as part of our lives. Imagine all those skyscrapers and glass and metal you have seen in any sci-fi or post apocalyptic movie genre. Doing that?
Good. Now I'd urge the reader to try to imagine another of my speculations. Imagine that humans are very scarce now. On the verge of extinction maybe. But the world is full with people, or, artificial people to be precise, full of bits and bites and gigs of information as to how to act like humans. The ones whose primitive forms we have already created. Imagining all that?
I'm pretty sure that by that time the info in them would be powerful enough to recreate more of themselves, these artificial persons. It might not be clear to the reader where exactly I'm heading...... but I request you to bear with me.
It is very evident, that the real humans who would have coded the information in these artificial humans would have definitely coded in the superiority of humans; stuff like 'never harm humans' and 'care for humans'.
Since I am assuming that our beloved race of real humans is extinct, these artificial humans might eventually remember of us as just superior beings, creators... maybe even worthy of worship. See where I'm heading?
Now, where does the spiritual speculation come in all this?
Isn't it possible that we, the twenty first century kind are actually artificial creations who have evolved into being social and supreme after millenniums while actually there were actual and more intelligent humans before us, who coded the information into maybe, a then technological breakthrough, our DNAs, and whom we consider worthy of worship. Obviously, if some ancient and powerful race created us before being eradicated, they would have never thought that they would have create a spectacle like what we are now.
They would have never thought that we, artificial beings for them are on the verge of creating our own artificial races. For all we know, religious books might actually just be records and footprints of a previous race. And for all we know, the codes that go into these powerful machines might, on a future date, prove to be our ancient footprints.
Isn't it a wonderful and fictional thought? And yet, 'personal telephones' were fiction only a century back. How far are we from being gods?
