Chapter 4: Genin Exams

~About a month later~

"Augh," you grumbled, shutting your alarm off.

"[Y/N]!!!!! WAKE UP!!" Naruto yelled.

You screeched and jumped on top of your bookshelf, banging your head on the ceiling in the process.

"NARUTO!" you screamed in anguish. You pounced from the top of your bookcase onto the idiot that stood in your bedroom entrance. You managed to land quite a few punches and kicks before cooling off and allowing him to get back up.

"Aish, you do that every time!" he complained.

You idiot. I tell you not to barge in every time, too! You groaned inwardly.

"Besides, today is important, so I decided to make sure you started off your day right!" he smiled. "The genin exams are today!"

Your eyes widened. Of course, you were just reminded. You grinned.

"That's right. Well, I wish you luck Naruto. Wish me luck too!" you said.

"Good luck, [Y/n]!"

"Now leave."

"Aww..."

You kicked Naruto's ass out of your apartment and began your morning routine as usual. Breakfast, run 5k, 1 hour workout, extra studying, practicing jutsu, packing your bento and bag, and finally, exiting your apartment to find Naruto asleep outside. Drool pooled beside him. He may be an idiot, but he sure is cute. You smiled fondly at him and tapped his shoulder. He jumped up, surprising you.

"Ready?!" he asked excitedly. You nodded with determination, clenching your fist in front of you.

"Let's kill this exam!" you yelled, and ran to the academy with Naruto. It only took you around 12 minutes to run the three miles now; your speed had vastly improved, as well as your endurance. The consistent training had really paid off. You were sure that you'd pass the genin exam today. There was no way you wouldn't.

You arrived at school 10 minutes early and sat in your normal spot between rude boy and Naruto. Sasuke had consistently bothered you about personal information, and you always felt like he watched you when you trained at school. It was bothersome, but you got used to it after a month.

"Morning, rude boy," you smiled as you sat down.

"Tch."

"Ready for the exam? Think you'll pass?"

"Of course. Only an idiot wouldn't be able to pass this exam."

Naruto always got angry whenever Sasuke talked. It made conversations between them more entertaining to watch. You smirked as Naruto opened his mouth.

"I doubt a prick like you could pass, Sasuke," he growled.

"Is that so?" Sasuke opened his mouth once more to insult Naruto, but glanced at you and shut it. "Tch."

You paid little attention to his antics, though. Iruka-sensei walked out with a smile.

"Today, you will all take the genin exam. You'll be tested on the clone jutsu," he stated.

Yes, I can do that one easily! You celebrated. Naruto, on the other hand, looked quite downtrodden. You frowned. Then you remembered that Naruto always struggled with the clone jutsu, and sighed.

"You can do this, Naru-chan!" you patted him on the back. He blushed bright red.

"D-don't call me that," he said.
