Prologue

It was cold and lonely. A shiver ran down your bare spine. You didn't bother trying to warm yourself, you were already hopeless. The cave you had been trapped in was sealed with a huge boulder; so big that you could not move it, for you were too young to have the strength necessary.

How could they leave me like this? What did I do wrong? You asked yourself. You felt the sudden urge to cry, but no tears managed to fall. You had used all of them up.

You were unsure of how long you had been trapped in that cave, but it must have been at least 2 weeks. You'd survived off of moldy stream water that escaped between the cracks of two rocks beside you. Other than that, you'd had no food and your body was weak. You would go in and out of convulsions due to starvation. You felt one coming on...

But you resisted and held your stomach tightly. I want to live, still! You were determined to survive whatever hell was left before you and escape this cave. You were determined to defeat those that had damned you to this slow and painful death, alone in the dark. The hunger began to force its way into your brain once more. You bit your tongue and prepared for the worst. Your stomach convulsed, and you fell weakly onto your side. A small scream escaped your mouth. After it followed a pair of heavy footsteps.

"Is someone in there?" asked a male voice. It was gentle and soothing.

You groaned out, in too much pain to make words.

"Hey, I think there's someone trapped in this cave!" yelled the voice again.

"What?" asked another.

You felt yourself losing consciousness as the hunger became too much for you to bare. The last thing you remembered seeing was the huge boulder cracking and then shattering into a million tiny pieces, followed by blinding sunlight.
