lil bit of character info- My name is Samantha, I am 21, beauty therapist. I still live with my parents and I am single. I have 3 best friends, Ellie, Emily and Hazel.

I checked my phone it was 6:45, the taxi was picking me up at 7. It was my friend Hazels 21st birthday and we were going for drinks in London around every bar possible, starting at Camden and working our way round. I had the weekend off work so I was ready to finally let my hair down and have a well deserved good time. I work as a beauty therapist on the outskirts of London, it was never my dream job but I enjoy it.  I get a text from Ellie saying she's outside, I grab my handbag and make my way to the front door. I shout 'bye' to my family as I leave and shut the door behind me to see my friends happy faces in the taxi! I immediately get handed a can of malibu and coke and the night has begun! A few hours went by and we were at our 4th bar, it was busy and had a great atmosphere; people were getting up on a small lit up stage and loosing themselves in classic songs by ABBA, Micheal Jackson, Whitney Huston etc. We were all having a giggle at the brave, tipsy people who shared their singing skills.

I look round to my right and I lock eyes with the Ex Boyfriend Luke, he was my first love who cheated on me and well long story short broke my heart. Ellie, Hazel and Emily hated his guts like any best friend would. She saw the hatred on my face and saw him, loudly she said 'out of all the places he comes here! Typical!' "Don't make a scene" I grab her hand. "No No, don't be silly, this is my birthday and a little cheater is not going to ruin it for us". Ellie got up from her seat and I saw her head over to the DJ. I didn't take much notice until the DJ said,"can a Sammie please join me on stage as she sings a song for her best friends birthday?"

All the girls cheer in unison and push me on to the stage, I could barley see anything with the big spotlight shining on me. I waited for the song 'happy birthday' to play. Instead Ellie cleverly chose 'Shout out to my Ex' by little mix which happened to be my anthem when we broke up. I sung every word with passion as I remembered my horrible boyfriend experience. I would normally shy away from singing in front of people however tonight the alcohol consumed me. Everyone began to stand, sing and dance along! Especially my gal pals!! The song finished and as I stepped down from the small stage I saw Luke leave and all my friend drown me in hugs.

I get handed a shot, the alcohol stings my throat and before I know it the DJ has asked for me again, this time I look at my friends and shake my head. I just get looks of confusion as they explain that none of them put my name down. I get up on stage again and I am asked to sing "Somebody Elses Guy' (which btw is a hard song). I try to focus on my singing as much as I could and I really let loose and get into the song.

Once the songs over  I walk to join my friends when I stopped by a young woman. She shouts over the music, "you've got talent". I just nod my head in confusion. "Do you want to sing for a living?" I look at her as if she's playing a joke on me and winding me up. "As if i could be a singer, Thank you, I'm flattered but I don't have talent." I laugh and begin to walk away, she clasps my wrist, "okay, My name is Claire and I work for a company called SYCO, I believe that you have talent. So I am going to give you my business card. Call me of you're interested." I nod along again and tell her I'll think about it. The rest of the night seemed a blur.
