If it was for you
I could pretend that I was happy even if I was sad
If it was for you
I could pretend that I was strong even if I was hurt...
Min-ji loves them. She loves them with all her heart. The moment they (he?) had first stepped into the clubroom, she fell for that nervous little smile and charming red eyes. She wants to be wrapped in their arms, days sliding past without a care, talking about everything and nothing. She dreams of quiet afternoons of hand holding, of shy exchanges and little kisses, of the love pouring out of their hearts until it overflowed and broke all the barriers of life. She wants - no, needs - them.
But before she could even reach her hand out to them, there's already a problem. Namely, the fact that they both came from different worlds. She's trapped in a digital one, where the foundation of all that existed was simply zeroes and ones. Her entire life had been sealed by a script of coded language, and there was absolutely nothing she could do about it. She's forever stuck there.
Meanwhile, this brunette boy was merely a vessel, something to represent them. Them, a being of some sort from another world. A world beyond the screen that confined her. She doesn't quite know what the outside world was like, but she had been fading in and out just to know. Much like their love, she yearned to be free of this prison that drove her mad, practically insane.
So seeing all her fellow clubmates crowd around them, showering them with undivided attention as they proceed to return such, she'll admit it; she's jealous of them. She wants to be the one they talk to, the one they wish to romance and whisk away into their happily ever after.
And yet, she can't be angry at them. It's not their fault. After all, it had been crystal clear from the start that she was just a side character, someone to only keep the club in check and guide them through the club's meetings. Even if they would want to write a poem for her, they couldn't. The script wouldn't allow that, never in a million years. Her fate was to watch them fall in love with everyone else as her heart aches for something unreachable - unattainable. Simple as that.
She's seen it happen countless times now. The sickeningly sweet interactions of them and her clubmates' budding romance is engraved into her mind, along with those unsaid 'I love you's dancing in the eyes of the other members' eyes whenever their route hadn't been picked. It's almost irresistible for her to walk up to them and say that they at least had a million other realities where they got their happy ending; Min-ji didn't.
...
I wanna be a good man just for you
I gave the world just for you
I changed it all just for you
Now I dunno me, who are you?
A forest of just us, you were not there
I forgot the route that I came along
I became to not know who I even was
I try to talk to the mirror "who are you?"
