Kristy's POV, cuz I love her
I could feel the fury rolling off in waves from my mate. As soon as we left Rini's room his mood just dropped. His fists were clenched and every muscle in his body seemed to tense as we walked down the stairs.
High-key, it was hot.
Focus Kristen.
Devon basically stormed into the kitchen where some of our pack members have settled, snacking on a few things here and there. But more importantly that is where Jackson and Vernon were.
"Everyone out!" Devon dismissed the rest of the pack, leaving me, himself, Jackson, and Vernon. Devon may just be the beta, but he was more like the unofficial Alpha. "I want a no-bullshit, 100% correct explanation on why MY little sister is like that." He glared at the two boys, watching them closely. "And I dare you to lie to me." His voice was so gruff and viscous, making me glad I wasn't on the receiving end.
Jackson and Vernon were silent, looking like they were mind linking each other to determine a reasonable explanation.
"She's the reason why mom and dad are dead." Jackson finally spoke, Vernon remained completely silent.
"We've been over this, it's no one's fault. We were just unprepared for a mass attack." Devon looked like he was seconds away from snapping.
"Lies," Jackson's voice wavered, "You were there Devon, you heard what that rouge said. They were there for her."
"So you wanted her to be kidnapped? Letting Goddess-knows-what could happen to her? She is your little sister!" Devon slammed his hands on the island, almost breaking the solid granite. Everyone, including me, flinched at his reaction.
"Yes." Jackson answered with no hesitation, shocking all of us, even Vernon.
That seemed to push Devon off the edge as he was suddenly in front of his brother, landing a clean punch right on his jaw.
"And you," Devon turned to the blonde hair boy we call alpha, "I expected my best friend to take care of my beloved little sister when I was gone. Hell I trusted you to. But all I now know is that I cannot trust anyone." He turned to me, making me freeze on how dark his eyes were.
I unconsciously walked closer to him, calming him with my touch as I caressed his cheek gently. His eyes gently closed as he leaned into my hand, taking a deep breath before reopening them to the beautiful blue that I loved.
**Thank you.** He mind linked me, giving me a soft smile before, walking back to his position at the other side of the counter.
I smile back, feeling my wolf, Zena, purr with the delight of our mate's happiness. Of course that happiness was replaced when Vernon decided to open his stupid trap.
"She was the burden that our pack had to suffer with." He spoke almost absentmindedly, not even looking up from his trance. "Do you know how many rouge attacks we've had ever since the death of my parents."
"It was not her fault." Devon's anger spiked once again, as well as the anger in my wolf.
**How dare they blame that sweet girl!** Zena growled. She loves Rini like a sister, almost loves her more than Devon and his wolf, Jeno. I could feel her pushing through our link to try to take control but for the sake of Rini I fight Zena back.
