Q's POV, because I felt like it.

"What do you mean he escaped?" My  hushed shouting woke Mari up as she slowly rose from the bed, rubbing her eyes with my sweat-shirt sleeve. I placed a gentle hand on her head as I cooed her to go back to sleep.

"Okay." She mumbled, slumping back onto the pillows. She furrowed her brows in her sleep, scooting closer to me as I sat on the edge of the bed, probably because she was cold. Adorable.

She's made a lot of progress ever since she started living with me. She's gained a lot more weight so she's in the healthier range, and has opened up to me more which is a plus. But she still is far weaker than the average wolf. It was a miracle that she could even stand to fight my pack in her past condition.

I smiled down at her as she nuzzled closer to my hip and quickly turned around to scowl at my beta.

"So what happened?" I growled, trying to stay quiet so my Mari can have a peaceful sleep. I would move my beta and myself but I don't think I could leave Mari by herself. Not because she is needs me by her side it's because I need her by my side.

Her adorable button nose and big silver eyes that make her look like an adorable bunny. And her extremely soft brown and black hair that tops of her bunny appearance.

I can provide her with clothes that will fit her but I just too selfish to let her wear anything that isn't mine.

"He slipped by security. It wasn't until this morning that the guards noticed he was gone." My beta, Zach, was watching my mate rather than looking me in the eyes. Though his eyes spoke more than him.

He was trying to see her worth. But he will never see what I see.

"Did he already make it back to his territory?" I glared at him until he noticed that he shouldn't be looking at what was, is, mine.

"Yes." He grit his teeth. His crossed arms got tighter until his muscles bulged. His dull brown eyes got darker until it was black. He looked back at my mate, this time not in a analyzing manner, instead like he was furious.

"You know," I started, feeling my anger build towards my best friend, "She's a lot like you." I peel my eyes from him and started stroking her hand gently, something I've caught myself doing a lot.

"How so?" He questioned in a strained manner, probably to hold back his wolf, Pierce.

"She was abused by her pack, remember? But she stayed, protected her pack without expecting acknowledgement. Made sure her pack was healthy and fed before she could eat. She never a received a 'thank you' or a compliment. She just did what she did because she loved her pack." I stoked her hair tenderly.

I can't believe the Moon Goddess gave me an angel straight from the Lunar Heavens. Someone who is too pure for this world for someone who crawled out from the depths of hell to wreak havoc on the mortal realm.

I watch as her nose scrunches as my hand leaves her head, like she's telling me to keep rubbing her head despite her being fast asleep. I chuckle a little to myself, completely forgetting about Zach who was regrettably still in the room.

"She's like a rabbit." Zach's voice interrupted my perfect moment and all I did was shoot him a glare that made him throw up his arms in fake-surrender. "I'll keep you updated on the whole Haven Dusk Pack-fiasco." With that, he walked out.
