19-1-13's POV

Instinct.

That's what we're running on right now.

Pure undeniable instinct. I lost tractor of how long I've been running. I just know I'm away from people, and those that were chasing me had stopped running a while ago. But I couldn't stop. Not until I was in the cold, it would keep my heart slow enough that instinct wouldn't come out again. And the cold would keep people away.

I need to get to the cold. And soon.

Instinct pushed harder then before, we were closer to the cold now. I could see our breathe as a misty cloud. It was nice. But I might let instinct just take over. He could keep us hidden longer then I ever could. Yeah that's what I'll do. I will become the voice in the back. It will keep us hidden longer. And probably alive all the same. Instinct had thicker skin, harder to cut or stab thru. We changed directions and ran to the forest that was near enough to smell. I felt tired in my mind. So I let instinct have full control of the mind. I trusted him with my life.

Instinct's POV

The kid went to sleep. I had to keep us alive, so I slid thru the shadows and trees. My tall frame helped me hide, that was good. I sniffed the air and smelt some food. I tiptoed over to the camp site. No one. I smirked and slid thru the shadows, getting as close as I could before snatching some of the food on the fire. I put the slab of meat in my mouth and heard a twig snap. I snapped my head in the direction, teens. Just great.

I let out an animalistic snarl and the girl panicked, hiding behind the guy.

"D-demon!! Hurry run!" The guy stumbled to get away. I grabbed the other slab of food and ran off. Cover blown. Time to leave. I wove thru the trees towards a damp scent, cave. I recognize it from that stupid human base we were kept in.

I found it after a while and crawled into the small hole. Right down into the cavern, the tunnel snagged onto the clothes and tore them every now and then. But it was safe. My night vision kicked in half way down so I did see the stream flowing thru the cave. It was nice. I could stay here for a long time. Just a camping spot for now. I have to keep running to keep the kid safe. He has enough bull happen to him. Torture, abandonment, pain, betrayal, heart ache, the whole lot. I'm just gonna have him sleep while I run the show. He doesn't need to wake up for a while.

He won't if I have anything to say about it. Twisted as it may seem the kid has seen some stuff. He could legally be killed at this point. I won't let that happened, he's to nice. Even if it kills me I'm protecting him. He let me in even tho I was technically a demon. He saved me so I'm returning the favor. He can be saved, they just dont get it. They don't understand what has happened to him.

How could they?

The pain. The experiments. All the bull. They couldn't understand. Maybe Natasha and Winter, but they won't risk it after his little outbreak.

Something fell from my pocket so I picked it up. It was some kind of note.

Nightmares can be a pain. Don't let them control you kid. They aren't real.

-Winter

Yeah, those nightmares of yours are memories and you would believe that Winter. But Sam is different. He grew up with them, with the pain. He grew up in hell.

"We grew up in a hell you people cant imagine. And you won't get your grabby hands on him again if I have any say in it." I growled, tearing the note into tiny specs. Sam has only felt one person's care. And they were shot because of him. That is why he kept you all away and turned to me. Smartest choice he has made in a while.

I sighed and crawled into a small crack in the cave when I heard footsteps. No need to attack unless they do first. I shrunk down to Sam's size and curled up in a ball. It was comfortable in his size, so that's a plus. After a bit the footsteps stopped at the entrance of the cave.

I waited.

And waited.

And waited some more.

Then FINALLY the person wiggled into the entrance. I hoped I was hard to spot, or me and Sam would be screwed. Several times over. After a while of listening to the person make their way down here they popped out. I watched from my position, again hoping I was hard to see in the dark.

"I don't think he's down here guys!" The figure said. I remembered that voice. It was Hawkeye. I almost choked out a laugh at the irony. The man claiming to have the best accuracy can't even see the beast a few feet away from him?

Pathetic.

Time to play~

I dug up Sam's voice and smirked almost evilly.

"Looking for me hawky?" I cooed, the sound echoing in the cave.

"19-1-13?! Where are ya little buddy?" I had to role my eyes at that.

"You think I will EVER come back with you guys?! Let you use us like Hydra?!" I snapped, using my scratchy and darker voice half way thru.

"Hey bud cmon we wouldn't do that to ya, just come on out okay?" He looked around in the dark. I saw the serum in his hands and on his arrows.

"I'm not leaving. Sam is asleep, he doesn't want to come back. Not when you brats try to control him like that!" I growled, crawling out of the crack and growing to my full height. I towered over him with a rage beyond most.

"LIKE HELL IM LETTING YOU TAKE SAMMY FROM ME AGAIN!" I screamed, kicking him back before he could stab me with the serum. I dove for the exit as I shrunk back down to Sam's size. Easily making it out I came face to face with the barrel of Natasha's gun.

"I'm done with this bull shit." I growled, grabbing the gun before she could pull the trigger I shot a few of the agents while wrapping my arm around her neck. I made sure she could breathe but couldn't break the hold. I back up towards the now open area with the gun to her head.

"try to shoot me, she dies. Try to stab me. You die. Chase me. Sam's dead. Got it?" I snapped and chocked the hammer back while glaring at the agents from behind her red hair. I leant into her neck as she pulled out one of her hidden knives.

"That won't work on me, you're lucky Sam likes you or you would be dead little Widow." I chuckled as she tried to stab me, I backed up and let her go. I winked at the agents and waved as they shot at me.

"Bye motherfuckers." I smiled, running off with Natasha hot on my tail. I wanted some fun and she was to fun to toy with.

"Aww the little Widow want a bite? Gotta catch me first!" I cheered, jumping into the trees.

"You guys won't see Dam again. He's been hurt to much for you bastards to get your hands on him again." I snarled, watching her chase after me on the ground.

"LET GO OF SAM SO HE CAN COME BACK OR YOU GET CAGED UP!" she yelled. I smiled down at her and crouched.

"Oh honey, you have no idea what that boy has been thru, I have. You cage me. He dies with me. If he gets out, he kills Hero and let's me roam after that. Either way, I'm left out and you can't change me long enough to coax Sam out. I'd love to watch you try tho!" I smiled, I was tired of playing so I jumped down and hit a pressure point. She knocked out right there. I hummed and slung her over my shoulder, skipping away as the agents tried to catch up. I paid no mind. I had my own mission for this little spider. Sam trusts her, I need to know what makes him trust her. And destroy it.
