I was invited to Mr. Fields and Beth's wedding. On New Year's Day, Mollie invited me and the rest of Dreams of the Dead to go to her dad's wedding, which is today.
And Mr. Fields goes above and beyond, so I know it's going to be a fancy party.
Mollie's picking me up soon, but at the moment, I'm getting changed. I own a lot of dress clothes from band and shit, show I have a black dress shirt, dress pants, and shoes. And then I went out to get a tie that would match Mollie's dress, because she wanted me to.
"Wait, why are you all dressed up?" Trina asks. My whole family's home, because it's a weekend and Saige is sick, so she's not allowed out of the house.
If Saige wasn't sick, she'd probably be over at her friend Trisha's house. Saige hasn't been home for very often in so long; she's like Mollie.
Mollie is never at her house either.
"It's Mr. Fields' wedding. I thought I told you." I say, running my fingers through my hair, making it stand straight up.
"Wait, Fields has a girlfriend?" Saige wonders; she sounds very stuffy.
Saige had Mollie's dad for English I her freshman year and English II last year. He actually helped her pass both classes, like she barely passed them, but she passed them.
"Yeah. And they're getting married today." I shrug, pulling my phone out of my pocket. "She's the one who subs for him, most of the time. Beth. Beth Elliott. Ms. Elliott."
Sebastien Haydn: Mollie hurry up I'm getting impatient
But I don't get an answer from Mollie. I get a text from Blake.
Blake Faith: Dude, chill. We're on our way.
And then there's the blaring horn of Mollie's new-ish truck. She loves her truck so much, it's not even funny anymore. She no longer has to ask to borrow Beth's bug. And she loves that she doesn't have to worry about ruining any more aux cords.
Thank God. I can only be around my family for so long. Even I have limits. I think everyone has limits when it comes to their families.
"I gotta go." I jump up, shoving my phone into my pocket. And then her truck is full of people. There are not enough seats for everyone. "What the fuck? Why are there so many people?" I ask as her door opens.
"Okay, Mollie. You're going in the back." An unknown male tells my girlfriend, unbuckling her seatbelt for her. "I'll drive. This was my car. Get in the back."
"Hey, I'm Sebastien." I introduce myself, as people are unloading so we can fit together better. "I'm Mollie's boyfriend." I've never been like this before, but I don't know who this is.
"I'm Toby. Toby Fields. Mollie's cousin."
"Oh, you're the Toby from California, that Mollie used to be besties with." Blake says, grinning. "So how is the seating going to work?"
"Like I said, I'm gonna drive. Jasper, Jordan, and Blake get the back. Sebastien, it's Sebastien, right?" Toby wonders, looking at me, "You're sitting in the front."
"What about me? Are we just gonna leave me?" Mollie asks, her arms crossed.
"No, you're gonna lay across these three. I feel like these three are more trustworthy." Toby says, gesturing to the three in the back.
Oh, fuck. He did not. He doesn't get to do that. He cannot be an asshole, even if they are related and shit, he can't do that. We are not pulling that. He does not get to keep me away from my girlfriend. That is rude. The only person who can do that is her dad.
