Mollie and I have been talking more now that we're not together, but it's still not much. I think she still hates me, but I still hate me too, so it's okay.
I'm just glad that we're still talking. I think it's really been helping with her anxiety. Maybe it's not being with me.
Actually, we get to Mollie's house before she's awake.
Today's her and Blake's graduation and we're all going to the school early together, although I'm still not sure why.
Emory won't look at me the same, but it's probably because he knows what happened. Of course he knows what happened. Of course Mollie will have told him.
Mollie's in the shower right now and we, Dreams of the Dead, are sitting in her room. Jasper's on her bed, Blake's on her basket chair, and I'm sitting on her giant beanbag. Jordan's on her bed with his brother.
"Can someone please toss me the outfit on the back of my chair?" Mollie calls from her bathroom. Jasper jumps up to toss her the floral romper on the back of her desk chair.
Mollie comes out of the bathroom soon after.
Fuck. I can't believe I lost this beautiful human being. She's so pretty right now. I mean, she's always pretty, but it's really being emphasized right now. It seems like she's been trying a lot harder to look better since she's broken up with me.
She doesn't need to try, though. She's beautiful as she is. She doesn't need to pu tin effort. I've seen her enough without makeup on in the past few months to realize that.
"Is your speech ready?" Blake wonders as Mollie's walking over to her closet to grab her shoes. She doesn't grab sneakers, which is surprising.
"Yep." She says, with wedge sandals in her hand. "It's ready and memorized and I'm ready for it." She says, letting out a sigh.
"Let's hear it." Jasper says.
"Dear students, friends and family," she begins, taking a deep breath, ruffling her hair, "and everyone else. My name is Amelia Fields, but most of you either know me as Mollie or Mollie Hazel. Fun fact, I became Mollie Hazel out of spite. So, junior year, I had this one teacher that I really looked up to, but I got kicked out of his class. Everyone thinks that I withdrew, but no, I was kicked out. I became Mollie Hazel to make that teacher and my ex-boyfriend mad."
It's so weird to think that I'm her ex-boyfriend again. I don't want to be her ex-boyfriend. I want to be her boyfriend.
"Anyways, I'm getting off track. This speech is supposed to be about goal-setting and stuff like that." She says, running her fingers through her hair again. "Okay, so that's all I'm telling you guys now. You've got to wait until the ceremony to hear it." She says, sitting down on the bed next to Jasper and pulling on her shoes. "Who's ready for graduation?" She wonders, standing up before wincing. "Ow. These hurt."
She doesn't normally wear heels, so I'm kind of surprised. She's probably putting extra sneakers in her truck so that way she doesn't have to wear those heels all day.
She's almost definitely going to be wearing sneakers during the graduation party. Blake and Mollie are doing a combination party at "Riverside", near here. And then we're going to the North Brooks Drive-In theatre, because w have one of those here. Mollie took me here on her sixteenth birthday. Well, it was a little bit before. We went to go see "Spiderman: Homecoming" and Mollie was nice enough to invite Saige as well.
"Is my dad here or has he left already?" Mollie wonders. She hasn't gone downstairs yet, so she doesn't know if her dad, who is one of the heads of the class of twenty-nineteen, has left yet. He has to do a speech before Mollie's.
