Chapter 1: The Strange Man

Girls POV

I wake with a start from the horrible nightmare I had just had. I hadn’t rely killed my father had I? I looked around the room I found myself to be in and gasped. It was not my little attic room where I should be. It was much bigger and warmer for that matter. There was also a weirdly shaped lump sitting in the corner. And I can feel the rough line of the cut made on my cheek. It hadn’t been a dream.

“You’re awake then Miss…” the lump said in a soft male voice. I stared and backed up as far as I could on the large bed I found my self in. “There is no need to be afraid. My name is Albus Dumbledore, what is yours?”

“I don’t have one Sir.” I whispered. It was true, I suppose I had one once, a name that my mother called me, but I didn’t know it anymore. Father refused to call me by any name that wasn’t an insult after she left. I was too young to remember her calling me anything at all.

“We will have to fix that. Please remind me later. Do you know how old you are?” The man, Mr. Dumbledore, asked patiently.

“Um, twelve I think. Father didn’t tell me my birthday.” I replied shyly.

“And your Mother?” he prodded.

“Gone,” I stated emotionlessly. “Did I rely kill my father?” I asked, still hoping it wasn’t true.

“Yes my dear, I am sorry to say that you did. However…”

“How” I cut off whatever he was about to say.

“With magic girlie, magic.” He said calmly.

“No. That is not possible. There is no such thing as magic.” I said quickly in borderline panic mode.

“There is and you have a very large amount of it for an untrained teen. My Dear you are a witch and a very powerful one at that.” The old man said kindly. He moved into the light and I saw that he had long white hair and an even longer beard. His eyes are bright blue and staring kindly at me. There seemed to be the remains of a mischievous twinkle in them. After registering the very kind appearance of this strange old man I promptly fainted.
