Mina’s POV

I am back in that house and father is spitting mad. I had dropped the dish I was washing and it broke when it hit the hard floor. I tried to clean it up as best I could but father came into the kitchen to quickly. There were still shared of glass all over the floor. “Get over here you ungrateful pig!” he screamed. I walked over quickly with my eyes down as he had taught me. I couldn’t see his fist coming. It hit me in the side of the head and I crumpled to the floor. He kept hitting me and yelling insults in my face. I could feel the bruises forming all over my body. Then he kicked me in the stomach. That wasn’t how it was suppose to happen. He was supposed to step on my arm and break it, not kick me. Then I was standing up over his dead body. He looked happy. He had slit his throat. His blood was bright crimson, so bright it almost hurt my eyes. I looked a little to my left and saw to my horror my own dead body. I looked closer. This girl was a little different. She had dark brown hair instead of my raven locks and her eyes were fully green. Her lips too, they are too full, and her nose a little crooked. This is what would have happened had I not defended myself. She had several stab wounds in her chest and upper torso. There was a pool of blood under her but it wasn’t red it was black. I looked up again and saw someone, a tall dark haired man standing behind my father. He was saying something, shouting and I just couldn’t hear it. I waved my hand and was instantly at his side. Now I could hear him.

“Cosmina! Wake up! You have to wake up! Cosmina!” He was shouting and shaking me. I woke with a start. My legs were wrapped up in the sheets and I struggled to get them free. There was still someone shaking me, shouting. It was all too much. I couldn’t take it anymore. I screamed and with my scream came a wall of power. The shaking stopped and the screaming stopped. Everything stopped and it was finally quiet. Then a soft moaning started up, slowly getting louder and louder. Then I realized it was coming from me. I pulled the power back inside and wrapped it around my self. Then I fell over screaming. It felt like my stomach was about to explode! I lay on the bed rocking myself back and forth until I felt hands on me. I felt tickling things running over my skin. The hands pulled me tight against a warm hard surface and slowly calmed me down.

“Hush Cosmina. Hush, hush. It’s all right. You are safe.” Snape said. I quieted but the pain in my stomach was still there and soon the moaning started up again. Realizing that there was something seriously wrong with me he started asking questions. “What is it? What’s wrong?” He asked sounding worried.

“My stomach!” I cried. “It feels like it is going to explode!”

Snape cast a worried look down at my contorting figure and asked, “Were you kicked in the stomach? Mina, tell me the truth.” I nodded and he swore. “Let me see. Mina, you have to let me see.” He gently turned me on my back and lifted up my top a bit, just enough to see the huge bruise quickly spreading across my skin. He swore again. “Mina, we have to get you to the school. There is a healer there who can fix you. We have to go now. I need you to stay very still for a few seconds. Ok? Can you do that for me?” I nodded and he pulled me tighter to him. Then it felt like we were being squeezed through a tube. I couldn’t breath, I wanted to scream and wiggle but I don’t because Snape told me not to.
