Snapes POV

Mina has a little pet now. That’s good. The scarred bird will keep her company when I am out and she can relate to it. After Mina picked the bird she named it Skylar and we apperated to Hogwarts. Her bird had to fly there and she got there a few minutes after we arrived at the gates. Mina insisted we wait for the bloody thing before we went into the castle. I tried to explain to her that it would take a long time for the bird to get here but she insisted that it was almost here. The girl was right. Not thirty seconds after that the bird dropped down on her shoulder as if she had always been there.

We arrived back in our quarters and mina took all of her new things into her room. “Is it all right if I make a perch for Skylar?” she asks in her timid little voice.

“Yes go ahead. You can make whatever you want so long as it serves a purpose.” I reply back already searching through my bookshelves for the first year textbooks. Finding all of them I call Mina back into the sitting room. She skips out of the hall her head up. It seems like she has gotten more comfortable around me. That’s good. I don’t want her to be scared of me. “Its time for lessons. Please go get your wand.” I say smugly. I noticed that she didn’t like using the instrument.

She pouts and holds out her right hand. “Wand” she says begrudgingly. The wand appears in her hand and she continues walking towards me. Her magical abilities astound me. She doesn’t even use spells. She sits huffily down in her spot and starts waving her wand around. Little streams of water come out and form little patterns in the air.

“Enough Mina. We have work to do. Here, do charms first.” I pass her the book and she opens it to the first page. “Please learn this spell. It is very useful.” The first spell is Wingardium Leviosa.

“Wingardium Leviosa.” Mina says half-heartedly. Pointing her wand at the stack of books on the table. They all start floating up to the celling. “Why can’t I just say float?” she asks.

“Go ahead, try it. Make your potions book float.” I challenged.

She pointed her wand at the potions book on the table and said in a clear voice, “Float.” Not surprisingly the book rose in exactly the same way as when she used the levitation charm. “See. Easier.”

“Alright, you don’t have to use the spells but you should still learn them.” I sigh.

“Thank you!” she squeals as she places her hand on the cover of the charms book. She closes her eyes and whispers “Learn.” Words start spiraling up her arm and over her neck, disappearing into her skin after a second of two. Finally the words stop coming and she opens her eyes, they are glowing bright green but fade back to normal after a bit.

“I meant the normal way.” I sigh.

“Oh but that was so much more fun and now the book is in my head so I will never forget anything.” The little witch is going to be my great trial.

“Mina the magic you do shouldn’t be possible. Especially since you learned you were a witch only yesterday.” I try to get through to her.
