Lost. (an A.L story)

Chapter 6

  The next morning after a few hours, Alec decided to go to magnus' to see if he could help with finding Jace. Their other argument wasn't exactly dealt with, but that didnt seem to matter.

After asking if someone could watch Sophia for a bit, Alec walked out of the institute, his mother following right after him. Sophia could see them and hear them from where she was playing outside.

"Alec." Maryse said but Alec kept walking.

"Alec, slow down."

He stopped and turned around.

"Where are you going?"

"Magnus'. I couldn't just sit in there and not do anything. He'll help me find my brother."

"Jace is not your brother. He's not your blood."

"He's closer than blood. He's my Parabatai, and Sophia's uncle."

Sophia kept listening, until her dad left.

"Alec, we looked like fools taking in Valentine's son and daughter in fact, caring for them like our own."

"It was the right thing to do."

"It was a mistake. It put our family in danger. You need too forget Jace. He made his choice." Maryse said as she placed her hands on both of his arms.

Alec looked at her in disbelief.

"Do you even hear what you're saying? If you kill him, you kill a part of me." As Alec said this she stepped back slightly.

"When you have a cancer, you cut it out before it destroys you. Son... Life is full of hard choices."

"Don't kid yourself. You're not making a hard choice. You're saving your own ass. And unlike you, i don't push someone away just 'cause they're a hard choice."

Alec turned and started to leave but stopped and turned around again.

"And what about Sophia? Jace is her uncle. She already lost her mother she doesn't need to lose him too. Did you ever think of that? No. Of course not." He said and left.

Sophia pretended to be too occupied by what she was doing when Maryse walked back to her, so it didn't make it seem like she was listening.

Alec was laying on Magnus' couch, so that he could try to track Jace.

"Alright Alec,  ready to track your parabatai?"

The boy nodded slightly.

Magnus helped him with the pain, but after a bit he felt something. Not just from his parabatai,  but something else too.

"What just happened? Did it start?" Magnus asked.

"I don't need to. I sense him. He's on land."

"Jace is back, call off your men. Izzy and I will bring him back alive." Alec said as he went into the main room.

Sophia was playing in the garden when this was going on so she didn't really know what was happening.

"One step ahead of you." Aldertree answered.

"We got a hit on the map. We're mobilizing now."

Izzy then spoke up.

"You're not listening.  Go ahead and de-rune me. We won't let you do this."

He looked at her, unimpressed.

"Hold them here until we get back."

Four men came up and grabbed each of them by the arms.

"I'm sorry. I'll do what I can to help Jace." Lydia spoke before leaving, Maryse soon following after giving the two a look of disapproval.
