Chapter Five

Tuesday (again, from Luke's pov)

After talking with Venus, I fell asleep pretty late, she kept me up thinking about her. I just couldn't ever seem to get her out of my head. And as crazy as it sounds, I think I'm whipped by this girl. And that's bad, but there's not much I can do. I crave to hear her voice and see her face. It seems like every minute that goes by without her is an hour, time goes by so slow when I'm not with her, and that's a lot.

But when my alarm went off at five, I groggily sat up from under my thin sheet. I kicked the heavier ones off during the night, since it was too hot.

I forced myself to stand up, though I don't mind being late for work, Ashton always covers for me. I walked to my bedroom door and opened it, not really caring if I woke my mom up. I walked down the hall and into the bathroom a few doors down. I took a quick piss before brushing my teeth. Once done with that, I padded back into my bedroom.

I walked over to the drawers on the far side of my room, and pulled one open, grabbing my black skinny jeans, despite the hot weather, and my torn up Nirvana muscle shirt. Some may call it a tank top, but I call it a muscle shirt because it sounds cooler.

I slid the clothes on over the boxers I was wearing from last night.

I took a shower after work yesterday, so I was planning on doing the same today.

I walked out of my bedroom again and went straight into the main part of the house. Our house was small compared to everyone else's on the street. We had three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a main room that held the kitchen, dining room, and living room in it, and it wasn't a very large room. This was all on one floor.

I walked into the kitchen part of the room and pulled out the leftover chicken sandwich I had. I ate that quickly before finding my car keys and walking out the front door. My mom hadn't woken up yet, as usual. She works as a math teacher, so she has the summer off. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it's not.

But nonetheless, I made my way out to my car that I park on the side of the rode. I hopped in and started the engine, pulling away. I still had thirty minutes until I needed to be at Walmart for six, so I decided to stop at Lava Java. I had a plan to annoy Venus about that, I think it was a pretty good plan.

I took the five minute drive there, plugging my phone into the dash and playing some of my music.

When I got there, I parked in the small parking lot and got out. I walked inside the place. It was really hippie-like, it had neon signs and bright white walls, the seating were these weird hand chair things. Like, the seats were actually designed as hands.

I walked to the counter, a girl named Brenna was working the counter, that's what her name tag said at least.

"Hello, welcome to Lava Java, how may I help you today?" She smiled.

"I'll just have a large French Vanilla, cream and sugar."

"That'll be $5.50."

I handed her the money and leaned on the counter while I waited for the drink. I was lucky that the place opened that early. Plus, at that hour, there was barely any customers, so my drink came rather quickly.

I walked back out to my car and sat down. I grabbed my phone and took a quick picture of the cup, sending it to Venus.

Luke: "Good morning Venus:-)"

I sent that before starting my drive to work, I have five minutes until my shift started and I'd be running a little late, but it didn't matter, my boss was never around and no one would rat me out on it. They're all pretty chill there, or they don't give a shit.
